@fortysevenelleven yes a metal pen would work, but no matter how well made or ground down it is i dont really want to be touching my phone screen with a metal object that easily has the potential to scrath,i would rather just put up without using apps that require a pen

It is not advisable to use a metal pin on a M8, but it goes...

Hope we can use on a PET-glass-screen a silikon pen..PET is more accurate...

I have no clue why everyone is so excited for Win Mo and all that...
    Really, I dont give a F_ck....
    I have M8 I bought in 2009 Jan.
    I live in US
In one year, the phone has not functioned as a normal phone (compared to a Cheap one) something is always broke....
There has been no final fW (f_ckWare), and the preformance has been crappy.
I was in Seattle last week, the freaking phone could not get the service signal...., I plugged my SIM into an old old Nokia 8801, and voila signal....
It showed me right there and then what a piece of crap this device was....

SO who the hell cares what the new Devive will look like and do... I am not buying it... infact I am going to be putting this on Craigslist to be sold....

NOT AT ALL HAPPY.....Wong is a freaking CHEAT......I am sure some of you have thought this as well... why would MS work for him and his device...and if that is the case.. he must have known it for a long time... so why a fW leak almost everyday.... 1.0 is no where in sight......why not be clear and open....????

    ANGRY... ANGRY...

end of the day the m8 is a poor mans iphone.

good hardware but let down by poor software

its a shame as the phone did have potential, but its 2010 now and not much has progressed

I think that what upsets most people though, the fact that if meizu had sorted out the software it wouldnt have just been a cheaper alternative to the iphone, but would have instead completely outperformed the iphone

Well....I don't think the M8 could have ever competed with the iphone especially the 3GS. For a start the 3Gs uses a cortex A8 based cpu which completely obliterates any ARM 11 based cpu out there. The iphones browser is also the best and fastest mobile web browser available and in my mind cannot be matched by any smart phone.

Without 3G and Apps the M8 has never really had a chance at competing even with better software. The iphone also has some of the most advanced apps on the market and games with full access to hardware accelarted graphics. Plus support from a huge raft of massive companies. Best iplayer app, best facebook app, best youtube app etc etc the list goes on and on.

There was also never going to be any chance that the M8 software would ever come close to what apple had produced. The iphone still has the smootheest and most well implemented touch UI in the business. The touchscreen, calibration/response/sensitivity/accuracy etc is unmatched by any touch based smart phone on the market. Even my HTC hero pales in comparison.

Meizu's could never and will never be able to compete with the iphone and they should have never pretended they could. Their main aim should have always just been to produce a device that does the basics well as at this time they still seem to be struggling to achieve this goal.

On a side note: It is not suprising that this is the case considering Apple is one of the world's largest, most reveered and most succesful tech companies, who also have astronomical R&D budgets and resources in comparison with a comapny like Meizu.

    Agreed sere83...
I am planning to create the next rocket to take people to the Moon and beyond, I have the basic design ready, actually there is not much to do on the design side as it has already been made by others and I just have to copy it... and then I have to get some fuel for the rocket...
Also I am designing some really awesome windows for the ship, they will not be sealed all the time, but when you are in space and want to catch a space rock, all you have to do is open the window, stick your hand out and catch it....
You cannot really bring the rock to earth, can examine it and and play with it, but will have to let it go once we start back for earth.....
Oh ... forgot, NASA is helping me develop the windows... and the rocket well it looks really good on the wall... in the drawing that was made by my son.........
I am going to release a sketch this March... wait for the final version..... really wait for it....

IF YOU GET the drift of my BS here...

Ive owned both, and after owning both i would never choose another iphone over the M8. Im not sure how you can say it does not even function as a basic phone when on the official firmwares it all works fine, how many firmware releases before the iPhone could recieve an MMS?iPhones crash all the time and the browser on mine was certainly not faster then on my M8.im not in any way trying to say that the M8 is not without its faults but you cant just forget about all the better qualities it has because you have trouble sorting some of the functions. The iphone has just as many bad points aswell. In the UK alot of areas still do not even have very good 3G signal and the i\Phone 3g to me has never appeared to benefit from it either,i couldnt comment on the 3G s as i have yet to play around on one.

919263,definetly,apply is much much stronger than Meizu, now. It seems it's really really hard for Meizu to achieve his goal. That's the fact.
But things are alway changing. Let's just wait and see patiently. Of course,Meizu or M8 may not catch up with Apple/ihpone forever. But like most of Meizu fans, I am happy every time Meizu makes progress, though at the same time, I have to bear or be torlerant with M8's shortages. I think iPhone is not a perfect one too. Yeah, I know, it's much better in the mass, right?

BTW,M8's signal problem was mainly solved when the SE released...

Well....as we can see from the forum people have very mixed experience with the M8 depending on your country. This is only expected though, due to Meizu not testing or officialy supporting the phone internationally.

No one can deny that even the latest firmware has considerable problems (problems with basic functions, like having to enter international dialing codes just to send txt messages amongst other things). The Iphone does not have any probelms with basic functions from my experience. The iphone never had a problem with MMS not working apple just chose not to support it until a few monthes ago.

Browser speed is a contentious issue, but I have seen videos on youtube of the M8 getting killed for speed by the iphone 3G.

YouTube - Meizu M8 VS iPhone - Internet Browser

Against the 3GS there would also be no contest so it would be pointless. The iphone is just a far more polished product marketed and tested for use in the territories.

I can only really speak for London in terms of 3G, as it's where I live, but in most major urban areas in the UK from my experience the 3G signal is very good and I have found 3G has been very useful to me since I got my HTC Hero so much so I wouldn't buy a phone without it now. Although I appreciate 3G may not be needed/useful to everyone.

I just hope that Meizu can manage to release a solid stable 1.0 Fw in the future though because all these buggy firwares are kind of denting their reputation and are just frustrating for customers.
