More details emerge on MStore - Meizu's App Store
In a recent interview with Meizu's director of marketing Hailiang Hua, it was told that Meizu has had a special team working on a "mobile market" where users would be able to buy applications directly on their phones.
Meizu is currently in talks with both independent developers and software houses. As it looks now, revenue will be split 70-30, meaning that developers receive 70% and Meizu 30%. He says that there are already internal versions of MStore for testing, and that official release will happen sometime this month (December 2009).
Payment options under consideration are physical points cards and AliPay, the Chinese equivalent to PayPal. Free credits will be given to existing users to facilitate trade in the early stages of MStore. Chances of support for international payments are, as always, slim.
Note: MStore has also been called MyStore. It is unclear what the final name will be.

Given this push for apps on Mymobile OS, it looks like Meizu won't be officially switching over to Android just yet.

I donīt know yet, if this is good, or bad news
For sure, I never thought seriously, that Meizu would switch/add to android, cause in long term, they want to make money with their own investments!
So, could this be the end for many international users??
I mean, till now, we donīt get many international applications....and no international user would buy a chinese app, translate it and risk, if it works on his buggy Meizu....hmm...we will see
But, perhaps, Meizu is going international, new UI FW 1.0, new apps, new, new...
**********
edit: but for sure, everybody wants to make money..so the devs will perhaps do multilang.versions, to reach more consumers!

Yeah, but Chinese developers don't see the need to make an English version of their app when we (probably) won't be able to pay them. And the same goes for for example American developers, they won't make an app for a phone that is officially only available in China, that is buggy, that changes its firmware more often than I change my pants, etc.
So I hope the user community that already develops nice apps keeps doing that.
But Err0r might be right about android, though...

Since Meizu does not want to deal with us foreigners for any other issue, i highly doubt they will consider this. But time will provide us with more information.
If we can not use the 'system' one will find a workaround
ps; will this be the end for many international users ?
I donīt know cause the m8 is aging, so many users will swap over to another device. This beeing an (international) meizu device with or without it problems or to just some other well known brand with few flaws in it..
so the problem solves itselfs?

totally agree with you! But, i think i wonīt buy another cellphone! Iīm happy with the actual firmware 9.3.9 and i will use it in future if the upcoming FW blocks anything!
But i guess that will not happen and iīm sure that everything will work even for foreigners like us!!

a workaround would be, not to use the official MStore for applications but to promote an own store. Basically, all it takes is a database, a web interface to the database, a simple application for the phone (yet another interface to the database) and participating people.
Application developers and consumers bring their own paypal account, so that is handled outside of the store.
Assuming somebody would host an app store and promote it here, we would have quite a number of "participating people".
For each application bought the store hoster would charge the developer (who has to have a valid paypal account anyway).
I don't think it is an impossible thing to accomplish (much less impossible than I expected bringing Android to the m8 would be).
The question is, however, if one should be engaging in such a thing at all...
EDIT:
I've never used Apple's app store. Is payment done in a somewhat automatic way or is it still done manually via PayPal or the like?
EDIT:
Forgot one thing: they are "in talks with both independent developers and software houses". That's a task too big for an own store, probably.

That sound like a good backup plan rekado!
But i think it would fail since the most apps are free to get, so why pay for it?
edit: if i remember well there is some kind of webstore for m8 apps, but can not recall the name :s

apple store, as I know, works in two was:
1)buying through internet with paypal or credit card
2) and other way is something like having acc, which you replenish via pc, but can download programs directly from your phone

^ Yeah, except no PayPal (only cc). The credits are actually dollars and usually come from gift cards.

Meizu M8 app store to become reality this month?
Now that Meizu is setting the M8 up with some new firmware and further turning its back on the handset's KIRFish origins, how about an app store? Apparently that's exactly what's happening, as the following video will attest. Not too many details here -- it's called MyStore, and the company is planning to split revenue with developers 30 / 70. The store is currently being tested internally, and with any luck it should see the light of day as a part of the new firmware release later this month. If you've been dying for a chance to play a Chinese knockoff of BubbleWrap, that day is finally drawing near! See for yourself after the break.

It is the newest FW, available in the download section or on Meizu.com (Chinese only).
@engadget: damn, reading those comments makes me kinda angry. I thought meanwhile they realized that the M8 isn't just another rip-off, but obviously, I was wrong...

Some of my colleagues at work think the same thing (and some of them own an iphone ofcourse).
BUT lately their opinion is changing since i showed some new ui videoīs and the android build onto it.
They have to admit, it is the first chinese phone with a good build quality..

I really would like to know how it could continue......
- Meizu store (already)
- next year one will pay for apps (announced)
- FW 1.0
- Meizu M9 (oled,dragon,....) -> and I am quite sure about that, thereīs no other way!! - just the question when?!
I donīt know how Meizu annonces itīs things.....like HTC? (you get the news some months before...), like Apple (1, or 2 weeks before...)
Has anybody experience? - how was it with M8 ?? I remember the SE version came very fast....
