it is possible of someone (maybe you) gets it done!

i think itīs nearly 100% impossible cause in this thread you see how hard it is to get an "open-source-os" to support the M8s hardware...get a Nexus and be happy...

Thanked 138 Times in 53 Posts@lang.
bills kernel incl config should be in the git somewhere mentioned in the wiki.
I still reading/writing myself a kernel driver whcih will be capable of calling the setradioon function from userspace and reading/writing registers.
Problem: right now im out of the form in the office of a customer :/ this means i have to work, not play aroung with m8 all day :D

Thanked 138 Times in 53 Poststhe question is not only about the chipset. On the SoC (main cpu) we have android running. What we dont have are drivers for the various hw components. if there would be a phone is the same hardware, we could have a look on how things are done. But this doenst mean that the hardware layout must be the same though. E.g samsung may have a vibrator motor on GPIO A5 and meizu on GPIO E8. Then this would bring us nothing.
But maybe to see a function which inits the baseband (to see the sequenze or sth) this could bring us further. Unfortionately the sgold seems to be one of the expensive baaseband chips and all the others use quallcomm

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostHello.. Not sure what happened to my other thread that i posted about SDX-developers but we have a lot of experience now with the kernel for the s3c6410.. we are having a problem compiling a 2.6.29 working kernel tho and are attempting to patch into our 2.6.27 the ability to boot android 2.1...

Thanked 138 Times in 53 PostsHi Numus,
whres the problem with the new kernels? we couldnt boot them, stopping @ after uncompressing linux.
With a new kernel version we could get a step further too as some spi stuff would be usable for us (wlan/bluetooth)
So lets see if we could lern form you
Is there any page (like ur wiki) where i could have a look at the hardware specs of your device?do you need spi ? which wlan hardware is used in your phone?
We clearly should do some commnications as we work on the same kernels, same hardware and nearly same goals

Thanked 14 Times in 9 Postsi have a suggestion though i don't know how helpful it will be :
couldn't we make a petition with voting ... about who wants android ... and by the end of it send a mail to meizu showing them that we want android and tell them about our progress and what we need help in to finalize things ? maybe they do know the commands ?

Thanked 138 Times in 53 PostsHum.... i thought about a petition on the meizu bbs. I dunno if there is someone @ meizu who even knows what we want and how far we are.
Next thing i will do is first to modify the initramfs for booting from own partition.
Then i will if i can use stuff from the sdx kernels (do you have phone working?) especially the parts which are used to commuicate with the modem (serial drivers etc) are very intresting for me

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsHi Numus,
welcome at the forum and thanks for pointing to your forum.
It might be usefull but do not expect that we have a lot of developers here
I think weīd be a bit further otherwise.
You could try to contact Bill, he once basicly told me how to run 2.1 from the .27 kernel, but keep in mind that he mentionned that he was busy. (nevertheless i am sure you will get a response) On the .29 kernel; wonīt be easy to edit since i thougt that even samsung didnīt manage to port it completly, that is if they shared the code ofcourse?we are having a problem compiling a 2.6.29 working kernel tho and are attempting to patch into our 2.6.27 the ability to boot android 2.1...
lol BPM, you are so rightif they have a look on this thread with >1000 posts, they would see that we want android

Thanked 138 Times in 53 PostsHum @lang2 i need y00 :P
What i made:
renamed my init from android to init.real
created a script called init.
copied a busybox into sbin and linked mount mkdir mknod and mdev to it.Code:#!/sbin/sh export PATH=/sbin # lang2's stuff echo "lang2 hacking...." mkdir /sys /proc /mnt /mnt/disk mount /sys mount /proc mdev -s mknod -m 660 /dev/mmcblk0p5 b 179 5 mknod -m 660 /dev/mmcblk0p6 b 179 6 mount -t vfat -o rw /dev/mmcblk0p5 /mnt/disk ls /mnt/disk mount -t ext2 -o rw /dev/mmcblk0p6 /system mkdir /system/data echo "creating /data" mount --bind /system/data /data mkdir /sdcard mount --move /mnt/disk /sdcard rm -rf /data/* #echo "Cleaning up _bin..." #rm -rf /_bin echo "Calling init.real...." /init.real
the i gave +rwx to all of them. In init.rc i commented the mount of /system and /sdcard out. But when i start i get
any idea that im doind wrong hereCode:Freeing init memory: 1252K Warning: unable to open an initial console. init: /init.smdk6410.rc: 6: setprop requires 2 arguments tmp1 = 0x1<3>init: cannot open '/initlogo.rle' init: cannot find '/system/bin/sh', disabling 'console' init: cannot find '/system/bin/servicemanager', disabling 'servicemanager' init: cannot find '/system/bin/mountd', disabling 'mountd' init: cannot find '/system/bin/debuggerd', disabling 'debuggerd' init: cannot find '/etc/ppp/dns', disabling 'dns' init: cannot find '/system/bin/app_process', disabling 'zygote' init: cannot find '/system/bin/mediaserver', disabling 'media' init: cannot find '/system/bin/playmp3', disabling 'bootsound' init: cannot find '/system/bin/dbus-daemon', disabling 'dbus' init: cannot find '/system/bin/installd', disabling 'installd' init: cannot find '/system/bin/flash_image', disabling 'flash_recovery' init: cannot find '/system/etc/init.smdk6410.sh', disabling 'smdk6410-setup' init: cannot find '/system/bin/sh', disabling 'athwifi-fwload'

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostAny help works

We have a working 2.0.1 kernel (only thing that doesn't work correct is 3g data (EVDO), and sending text messages) that i know of.. we failed at converting 2.6.29 from 2.6.27 (manually diffed everything and then added all samsung propritary from 2.6.27 stock to 2.6.27 samsung into a 2.6.29 stock and it didnt work
We are waiting on source code for the i5700 spica (another phone to use the s3c6410 but gsm so modem and rild are different then our cdma phone)...

Thanked 8 Times in 7 PostsI've been busy myself so hadn't put in as much effort as I'd liked.
But Numus's post has been interesting. Welcome! I'm sure I can learn something from you.
r3wdy:
From looking at your init script it looks OK and did seems to work (although I don't think it's necessary to manually mknod those two partitions - mdev -s should take care of it). I'm assuming you see colored directory listing when booting right?
Those error messages are from init.smdk6401.rc, which I've disabled in mine because they didn't seem to help - do they even match the real M8's hardware?
I actually did get booting from second partition working myself: here is my init Bash | #!/_bin/sh export PATH=/_bin - Anonymous - ydTm4D4F - Pastebin.com. I've only init, initrc, init.real and default.prop in root. It does nothing more functionally than loading system.img from /Disk: vold couldn't mount /dev/mmcblk0p5 as I'd hoped. So I still had to mount it manually. I do remember Bill mentioned he got things working by using mountd so I'll try that at some stage.
Anyway, try getting rid of extra rc files and see. You don't need to run init.real if you don't want Android: you just want to play with the kernel right? If you still have problem, let me know and I'll upload my rd. Oh, you need to mknod /dev/console somewhere to get the console I suppose.
