Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsGood one r3wdy,
i agree with you that we would need to document the changes in the current working kernel so we could make a jump to the most recent linux kernel beeing used in android.
It could solve a lot of issue´s.
Myself haven´t found time yet to continu on this project, but will try to contribute again asap.
Only thing i am worried about is the serial port on M8SE, did not yet figure this out. And since i am happy with the se i am a bit affraid to brick it :s
btw, did anyone notice that using dualboot and setting the clock setting right in android will lead into the problem that this setting is lost in wince?
ps; still would love to see a work around for using more from /disk to try and install apps.

Thanked 138 Times in 53 PostsOkay then, fresh to work

after installing windows 7 im now installing virtual box to get my linux back.
then i first will try to compile the newst samsung head relese 2.6.33 RC3 and see what it does on the m8. If i can get it to boot i will see if i can migrate the imortant stuff (mainly lcd first) to it...
If it doenst work i will try to see if i can write a short programm to simulate a modem init.
If this doenst work i will try again spi wlan :D

The only whay one could help would by compile and try for yourself. android self runs, but all the drivers not. thats the point

Thanked 138 Times in 53 PostsThose buttons must be emulated on some other way. We have the sourecode from android. We could make return = 2 times M or something...
These are future problems
I think such problems are easier to solve than the HW problems we currently have.
PS: if anyone is really willing to help and try to compile and run linux and drivers on his m8. the wiki has the answers, or just ask here.
It seems that im the last developer left right now

AndroidSPIN: ROM Database v12.0
i have no knowledge in developing whatsoever but i want to help so thats my first try and im looking into a chinese android phone (sciphone n21 or n19 ) maybe they have the drivers that we need ... what do you think ?
-

Okey, well I will try this when I get my M8 later this week. Do you need proper bug testers? Cause I'm willing to do that if it could help speed the process of porting Android for M8

Dont know who is developing this but contact me if you need me!

Thanked 269 Times in 146 PostsProbably, it would be very easy for Meizu...but for some reason, the are not interested. Meizu wants their own UI..but who knows why exactly, thats business politics
...and in couple of months, you will find tons of Android devices on the market, perhaps they wanna be also proud to create a real chinese product that chinese people love...

Thanked 14 Times in 9 Postsya but asking them to help out in finding these three drivers to make android run almost perfectly (bt/modem/wifi) shouldn't be too overwhelming its easy for them ... and they would be doing such a huge favor to the community its not like we are completely removing their own ui ... we are merely adding another one on top ... they could mod the android ui too you know ...
isn't there anyone here with a close contact with some hotshots in the meizu company ? :S
