    That sounds great! Do you already have the necessary drivers?

    thank you banxian

    maybe if you, or somebody else, has time, you could write a new how-to make an android rom/image.... so that we can build our own custom image and test it!
    the bootloader already works now, i think that was the biggest problem of it, where for example me had no idea how to help....
    but i think with some experience many people can help to integrate drivers or something!

    thanks,
    raoul

    I get a new WM8993 driver, it's too new to pass compile. the soc parts fixed by me yesterday, but codec parts have lots of new style use.
    I checked entire linux-2.6-soc branch from offical website, maybe it contains more match version for 2.6.27 kernels.
    another options is porting android driver and mmc patch from aesop / bill version to newest android kernel or 2.6.32 linux kernel.

    I mounted disk to sdcard by serial (but by legal reason all filename display as short 8.3 form), I am now finding how to announce to android shell that sdcard is inserted.
    If it's safe to pass heavy deleting / modify test, I'll treat it as safe to enable in public version ROM.

    @Loonix:
    yes, there more than one touchscreen driver in CE ROM. but I think it's maybe used in EngineTest version of M8/M9.

    @d3sp3rados:
    I am looking for a 16GB M8 user near by my working office in Shanghai. I need use serial cable to input commands into busybox.
    Thanks very much for helping get Android running on 16GB Versions

    Very nice banxian!
    I am waiting for a couple of things and i know that you will be able to get it running:
    1. Wifi
    2. Phone function to make calls and text.
    3. Bluetooth
    4. To be able to install new programs for android.(use M8 as a usb mass storage device in windows and be able to browse files and copy from pc to M8 and from M8 to pc)
    5. Battery level displayed.
    6. Portrait-mode instead of landscape-mode viewing.
    7. Dual-boot (Would be sooo nice!!!)
    8. little details.(lightsensor,accelerometer,mic click in headphone to take call and use with musicplayer)

    Thank you so much for giving me hope!
    Android is the future, you are creating a better future for the Meizu M8 RIGHT NOW.

    Cheers

    Best thing is to wait for banxian to complete his write up.

    Banxian,
    i saw your gitorous, will you be placing the running kernel there aswell?
    Would be very easy for all users then ;-)

    to all;
    we reached hackaday headlines!
    there is just a typo involved, but ive contacted the writer to correct it,
    banxian provided us the upgrade methode like most of you know here.
    And since it is not all my honour but Banxian´s, Bill´s, R3wdy´s etc.. i wanted it to mentioned,-)

    Thanks Hackaday!

    Maybe you could try making ndiswrapper for an android. Then try to find the wifi driver files for the wince kernel. It would be a temporary or alternate solution. It's just an idea, I don't know if it works on android anyway.
    Keep up the good work guys!

    Remove your battery, put your M8 in uprade mode (Power+Play), plug the USB cable, delete mdroid.img and xip.bin and replace the Meizu OS xip.bin and press upgrade

    This is on the M8 pinout or on your homebuild rs232 cable?
    Yes... if i didnt got all wrong.
    I will wait for my ttl converter but im more and more concerned if i had destroyed the serial port already...
    This would mean i need a complete m8 dump from a jtag (at least the parts that are corrupted which art the first 20-30mbs i think) so i can enter upgrade mode again. i dont really need a serial port but a running phone would be nice...

    anyway i wait for my ttl to arrive this week and then i will see.
    Sure is, if i fucked it up i wont buy a new one till m9 because thats not worth it.

    @evow,bill,banxian or any other with a jtag:
    Could some please try to dump the first
    80MB of the nandflash zip it and upload it somewhere? According to this

    {
    .name = "misc",
    .offset = (768*SZ_1K), /* for bootloader */
    .size = (256*SZ_1K),
    .mask_flags = MTD_CAP_NANDFLASH,
    },
    {
    .name = "recovery",
    .offset = MTDPART_OFS_APPEND,
    .size = (5*SZ_1M),
    .mask_flags = MTD_CAP_NANDFLASH,
    },
    {
    .name = "kernel",
    .offset = MTDPART_OFS_APPEND,
    .size = (3*SZ_1M),
    },
    {
    .name = "ramdisk",
    .offset = MTDPART_OFS_APPEND,
    .size = (1*SZ_1M),
    },
    {
    .name = "system",
    .offset = MTDPART_OFS_APPEND,
    .size = (67*SZ_1M),
    }

    768k
    256k
    5MB
    3MB
    1MB
    67MB
    If android tried to mount the system partition and destroyed it, and i think i can just write from beginning with jtag i need at least that much dump to recover this parition. this means roughly the first 80MB.
    Anyone here who is willing to help me that way?
