How to make transparent icons for themes on M8

Yes its possible make the icons transparent.
I use Gimp editor its simple.

EDIT: DONT FORGET! when you create the icon, you save it with NAME.PNG
The gimp dont save with the extension we need, you choose writing jpg, bmp, png.
I write allways .png for better quality.
