    [Poll] Android or Meizu OS?

Meizu does not listen to us, i want to try to get them listing.

Simple question: Do you want Android or the current Firmware?

    I choose for android.
Choose for your own, but first search youtube for the (incredible) android interface, then decide for yourself.

Please make this sticky mods or admins, i really want to spread the word to everybody, especially Meizu!!!

I dont want to be forced to use Android. This would be a reason for me to sell my beloved M8.

If they would make a Dual-System with Android and MeizuOS, they would start to neglect the development of their own OS i think.

Because there are a lurge number of developers for Android (not 99% chinese people), and we wouldn't need to translate every single app to english, and there would be more apps like Facebook/Youtube/various IM apps, games, and so on..

welll...android would obviously be better than the Meizu fw for stability and bugs. But lets not forget that stock android has a number of shortcomings, most notable in the media playback area. File support is weak at the moment and both the video and audio player interfaces are rubbish, especially the video. For video and audio playback capabilities the M8 is definitely superior.

If someone could port HTC's sense Ui then it could be interesting as the HTC customizations have far improved stock android, however the sense ui is also more cpu intensive. Stock android also does not support multitouch atm and android is also not optimized to run on the cpu used in the M8 hence why all android devices to date have used the same 528mhz Qualcomm/ARM cpu.

Maybe in the future android could be a solution but personally I think it would be easier for meizu to just get some firmware engineers who actually know what their doing instead, as the basis for a solid OS is there already. Wong was also quoted as saying they have considerable funds to throw around, so it's not like they can't afford it.

The thing people forget is meizu does not care in the slightest about the overseas market. A couple of peope I have chatted to in China are not expereinecing a lot of the problems that international customers have been having. Meizu do not test the phone oustside China so the m8 will most probably continue to have issues when used outside China.

    To be snooped on.. Android

Remember guys... Google snoops on everything you do when you use one of their products.
Here in the US with the Android on the TMobile Cell phone, the users have started to get targeted with ads. for what they were looking for on the 3G web... One guy logged on to his Match.com profile and started getting bombarded with free sex and other dating service site ads.

I like to stay away from snoops... and more over Google has been known to dish out your records to govt. and others real easy...

I would stick pwith Meizu... Bought their phone for their UI and not Android, provided they are able to fix threir fW......

I've had G1, Magic and Hero. I really like the Meizu OS more than Android for now.

Well, you can edit everything in Android, so Meizu could still use the same layout/UI as they are doing now (or in the upcomming fw1). I would love to get some apps that could be both in propper English and at the same time be useful. For example a Facebook app or anything. Now I only find useless apps in proper English, the other useful apps are all in Chinese or Engnese :P

I've heard that the Android isn't as good as Meizu OS on multimedia, which sucks, but I'm still giving my vote to the Android OS.

    I'd rather have Android too

A choice would be excellent though - keep developing their own OS and just package up whatever is the latest Android release every now and then.

I've not heard about this from anywhere, got any links? One simple alternative is to install another browser. That's the beauty of Android

I wonder what's happened to all the firmware though. There was an absolute FLOOD of them a week or two ago and now nothing?! Are they preparing the big 1.0?

A choice would be the best, we would have both.
But really people, meizu is not going to get us to that level, i haven't seen any phone that has 2 kinds of OS running at the same time, nor being able to choose which OS to start in some sort of startup menu. But we have all seen mobile phone fans that ported Android to a lot of phones.

I bet the reason why Android is never coming to the M8, is because of the bugs we, the owners of a M8, keep having.

Remember that on the 'little' 256MB Rom inside the M8 both android and the Meizu OS need to be installed at the same time.
So I do not think it is possible to install both windows ce and android on that little space...

And i don't think Meizu is going to create Android for the Meizu since people don't show much interest in Android.
I want to make a change to keep Meizu awake.
If i met Jack Wong in person, i would say this to his face:
Finish the current OS you are working on, and start building Android for the M8, since you have no idea how popular Android is compared to your crappy firmware that keeps containing loads of bugs.

Meizu should think like HTC, but it doesn't want to.
It keeps wanting to improve a firmware that gets better and at the same time even more worse...

Keep adding your opinion, it doesn't matter if you already voted or not, Meizu needs to listen to the world. Ow and Meizu should think about selling it internationaly, Meizu can make a lot of money with such an incredibly build device.

Instead of thinking outside the box, think outside china first.

I'm not expecting a switch on choice, more like a "we have this firmware which gives you Android 1.5 or this firmware which gives you Meizu OS 1.1, pick one, upload it and flash your mobile".

Meizu will never have Android and the Meizu OS at same time.
I am asking them to finish the current and continue to Android.
Meizu needs to step into a new market as a non-iphone clone producer. If they continue like this people will always talk about the M8 like this:

    Person A:Hey, what is that?
    Person B:It's a Meizu M8.
Person A:It looks like a Iphone.
    Person B:It sure does, not?
Person A:What can you do with it?
Person B:PROBABLY not much, since it looks like a iphone-clone.
    Person A:I don't want a iphone clone!
    Person B:Me neither!

The end of my nightmare stops right here....

But It can go like this if they would make a change:
    Person A:Hey, what is that?
    Person B:It's a Meizu M8.
Person A:It looks like a Iphone with a nicer interface.
Person B:The Iphone must be more expensive, but how much is this one?
Person A:Looks like only $350, i want that!
Person B:Look at the cool features, it can do anything, even more than the Iphone.
Person A:Let's buy it, we can go to school with it and show off.

And at this point my nice dream stops

    I know, i dream a lot....

Not LVL, is not a dream, is reality =)

I saw the iPhone first than meizu m8.
When I saw the iPhone I said:
    :O Beautiful cellphone!
    Let me see the price!
    ...................
    600€
    WOW should be excellent ...
    What can he do?

Is this the famous IPhone? Not useful to me, if I have to pay to get mms and bluethoot software?

After browsing through ebay and see the meizu m8 with everything, more beautiful, more beautiful interface, 8gb. It was a dream to me, I really wanted it. loool

    16gb version ...
It was more than a dream, cheap, beautiful, with the same capabilities or better than the iPhone.
i dont think 2 times, I will buy it! :P

And yes, perhaps this week I will have my meizu m8 and I'll show in my "school", just because it is cheaper and more useful than the iPhone.

    ------------------------------

    In opinion about Google's Android.
I voted for Android, but after thinking better and have read here this topic:
Imagine that we are the meizu.
We of course, want in our possession and our meizus, something that is ours, done for us.

And for that we will have to WORK for it.
But most users here, see anything, until the meizu firmware is "beta", applications ... and whatever else makes people want to Android is the language.

At least one world language (English) so that we can use, would be a great choice to make sales outside china =)

now it is for the meizu engage in the development of firmware and applications, because I am sure that if they have more developing properly and the applications in English language, no one care about Android.

I dont participate much in the forum, but I'm always here =)

    Thanks ^^

Edit: I forgot... sorry the bad english, but google translate, not always translate correctly :P

A long time ago I was very interested in the M8. I even had one in my hand. But when WebOS was released and Android improved I really lost my interest. But the recent video of Android on the M8 got me curious again... seriously, I think it was a stupid idea of Meizu to develop their own surface on top of WinCE 6... It was clearly more than they could handle, and it made Meizu look like a bunch of copycats. Android is free, it's more robust, it has a much higher potential for more apps (I mean we have HTC, THE smartphone manufacturer, Samsung, Motorola, Huawei, Lenovo and a few others developing Android phones. What are people going to delevop for? Android, which is like Windows (many different devices), iPhone (like the early Macs... single plattform, but very wide spread) or BeOS (which no one ever used)?).

I think I might go for the Motorola Cliq though... or the Samsung Galaxy lite... or maybe the Huawei U8220? Sure, they are more expensive, but better equipped and they have Android. Unless Meizu gets WiFi, 3G and Android into the M8, soon.

We can't give up on the Win CE interface. They have been talking about the release of the m8 FW 1.0 since i got my phone in May. There are many lists of bugs that are going to be fixed, improvements to UI and so on.

@ meizu don't put all thast hard work to waste.

Maybe once 1.0 is finished maybe then work on the Andriod platform later. If that is achieved you will properly accommodate for most of the market. People that like a different interface and great media playback capability go for meizu and people that like their gaming and use of extra apps go for andriod.

I picked Meizu as I like it how this phone is not like so many other phones
    FW 0.9.6.9
