Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsWise choice.
We are all waiting, and very disappointed, so this is a big moment for Meizu, it is the moment of either getting dumped by most M8 users or get compliments.
But at the moment i do not have high hopes.
With android i don't need to hope, i know it is awesome.Ben je Nederlands?

Thanked 200 Times in 145 Postscan Android playback .RMVB or .APE files?
I think one of the strength of the Meizu OS is that it evolved from a Media Player manufacturer so it should excel in this area.
In all other areas i agree, Android should be greater.

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsI see nobody complaining about the video or audio support, maybe because they are good at it.
But hey, its a phone, make the 'phone' function work first, and then continue with the media support, not the other way.Ben je Nederlands?

...in my opinion the media support isn't that good. The M8 plays most media files (apart from most highres .mov-files) but every movie I ever tested wasn't running smoothly. The flashvideo support is a gag - videos with higher resolution than 320x240 are only stillpictures...
By the way... WMV-clips and the music player work good.
...back to topic: I'm not sure wheather things would change to better if the phone would run android. and what about battery life with android? With the MeizuOS my battery lasts for about 2 days - that's not very much, I thought the specs were about 144 hrs? I heared android-devices have problems with their battery life.Last edited by Jascha; 09-29-2009 at 03:09 PM. Reason: back to topic

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsI am pretty sure that the Meizu OS consumes more power, since Android is developing faster and better.
Android will always be better since we want a device that works.
@kadajawi: I used to be able to use my phone for more than a week, sadly this is impossible at the moment, i have two batteries.
One that i used from the beginning and another which i haven't used at all.
At the moment i am researching weather it's the phone or the battery that is limiting my time of usage.Last edited by LVL; 09-30-2009 at 03:27 PM.

He really needs to understand the importance of android and in what ways you can develop a great phone with really good functions!Ben je Nederlands?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe Huawei U8220 (T-Mobile Pulse) has just launched in the UK, for less than 200 € including tax. It is a 3G phone with WiFi, GPS, 3.5" display, 3.2 MP camera, microSD slot and Android. The build quality won't be that good, but other than that... the M8 offers a higher res screen, probably better audio output and a faster CPU. But 3G, WiFi, GPS, Android? Hard to beat.

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsYou are right, can't beat because the M8 is 'useless' because of the lack of GPS, 3G and Android

Don't you mean 200 pounds?
I heard it will be €250...Ben je Nederlands?

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsI don't know know, but android must be more popular....
Why not care for 3G and GPS build-in?
It would be great to have, almost all the phones have it build-in these days....Ben je Nederlands?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsTo me the lack of GPS and 3G is a huge flaw. I have a Navigon, but it's about to fail (no reception cause the antenna inside is broken, it's extremely slow, ...). Also I can use the phones GPS while walking around cause I always have the device with me. I get lost easily, so it's very useful to me :D 3G is just useful, especially if I want to use the device for a few years (my old smartphone has been in use for 5 years now, oh, and it has GPS and 3G). I'd also like to be able to use my phone to geotag my DSLR photos.
The M8 is not useless, but it quickly looses all of its appeal, even if it had Android. The only thing going for it is the (somewhat) fast CPU and the high resolution, and perhaps the sound quality.
Oh, and the Huawei is 176 pound. What's hot - T-Mobile Pulse - Mobile Phones and Tariffs from T-Mobile Phones are generally very cheap in the UK, so it might be closer to 250 € outside the UK, but I'm sure that you can import them, I mean visiting the UK is quite cheap with Ryanair...

truevisiting the UK is quite cheap with Ryanair
not wanting 3G i can understand, but the gps function is a very usefull feature.Dont care about GPS
it is true that m8 is getting outdated, but as a default phone it remains value-for-the-money, except it is only that if the software would run flawless, that is why android would make m8 more interesting ;-)M8 is not useless, but it quickly looses all of its appeal, even if it had Android
send a t the same moment the message that there are more oversea´s users then he thinks! Can anybody send this poll to Jack Wong so we can convince him?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsThe sub-200 € UK version probably not, the 300 € version you can buy in Germany is simlock free.
Engadget has posted a review, they seem to be quite impressed: T-Mobile Pulse review
I have played with the phone too for a few minutes, and I'm equally impressed. I think quality wise it can at least compete with the M8, but with solid, stable software that just works. The camera looked awful though, but that's not important to me. I must say that even if the M8 gets Android, I wouldn't get it anymore. They cost almost the same, and the advantages of the Huawei (3G, GPS, miniSD) outweight the advantages of the M8 for me (higher resolution screen, faster CPU, 3.5mm headphone jack (rather than 2.5mm + adapter (supplied)).
