Desperately Seeking 1.0
Its truly unfortunate that Meizu has decided to be completely unreliable with their Firmware and have left so many people unhappy with the overall performance of the M8.
Their lack of peripherals and official headphones and chargers coupled with the horrible performance of the Firmware have left me wishing that i had bought an HTC or a Samsung touchscreen.
And thats really too bad. I was hoping that for once, a Mainland company would come up with a product that was both esthetically beautiful and very useful and user friendly.
And while i still feel that the M8 is one of the best looking and feeling device out there, the errors and bugs and lack of support for 3rd party software, and the unfortunate incompatibility with most Win Mobile software, leave this device far behind in terms of useability.
These problems should have been fixed long ago, i started using my M8 last December, and I am not expecting the 1.0 firmware until around december(because i dont trust Mr. Wong anymore), i bet they release the Android UI first.
"Hey Jack, your device is by far the best looking, how about you get working on the useability factor cause it sucks.......
Take a pay cut buddy, and hire some more programmers, get the job done and then, and only then will you be the Rockstar that you so desperately want to be."

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI think it would be a nicer way to be a bit more positive , I mean , for just half the price of an iphone you get a very nice device which , for the biggest part works alot better then others out there , for example the win mobile based smartphones does have all the functions you need , but do they work perfecttly smooth ? I don't think so ..... I think meizu is working hard to get most stuff working properly , at least they aren't developing a lame iphone copy/clone.
I am very pleased with my m8 , sure it isn't as smoothly as an iphone, but what do you guys expect for such a low price ? It got very nice functions and positive things to talk about rather then keep on whining about the damn firmware.
Anyway , if you are complaining about it all , why do you bought a product that is only supported for the china market anyway .
(just my 2 cents because of all the bashing around here)

Thanked 6 Times in 3 PostsReally? My three year old Nokia works much better as a phone.
Have you ever used a WinMo device before? I am currently using a Samsung mobile running Windows Mobile 6.1 and although its GUI is not as user friendly as the M8's, it has much more functionality, it is much more reliable and it is basically bug-free, not like the M8, which is full of bugs and and has limited functionality especially the phone part.
Working hard? Meizu started to sell the M8 officially at the beginning of 2009 in the China market. More than half year has past and we still do not have a final firmware! Moreover the latest official firmware still contains lots of bugs (several of them are there for months). Do you think this is hard work?
In the China market you mention 2000 RMB (or 2500 RMB for the 16 GB version) is not low price for a mobile phone.
When I bought the M8 I expected a phone that is working normally and has only a few bugs. I didn't pay for a buggy phone and the poor support. As long as the problems are not corrected, I do not care about the nice functions since the problems make the phone unusable for me.
Did you notice the location of the user who started this thread? He lives in Beijing, China. I am a foreigner, but I work and live in Beijing, so I am considered to be part of the "China market" you mention, right?Last edited by Maegoss; 08-27-2009 at 11:28 AM.

@Maegoss
You are spot on with all of your comments, i was a member of this site since 2007, and I do consider myself part of the "chinese market", simply being a foreigner apparently excludes me from being able to comment on local products????
I have lived in China for more than 20 years, and i do more defending of chinese products than most. The fact that I am displeased with this product is apparently too much for some people, well screw them.
And as far as product bashing goes, it took me a long time to write that post, because i was trying to tone down my dissaproval.
Mark Versluis obviously knows nothing about win mobile and much less about any other touchscreen options. Meizu is not Apple and we dont need BS fanboys promoting nonexistent functionality.

Thanked 6 Times in 3 PostsPekingman: I think it is especially disappointing and annoying because Meizu really has the potential to make a good phone with the M8. The hardware and the build quality of the M8 is quite good even compared to the big, international companies (like Nokia, Samsung or Apple) and the software also looks promising (they managed to build a touch interface on the Windows CE kernel). The only problem is with the attitude of Meizu and the way they treat their customers. Instead of listening to their customers and correcting the problems as fast as they can, they stubbornly only do what they want to do.

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsI do like the hardware inside the M8, meizu did a great job with that! If only their software was better....
Why doesn't Meizu just create a winmo version for the M8, that would solve a lot!Ben je Nederlands?

I totally agree, the phones hardware is fantastic, and as i said, it is one of the sexiest phones out there.
My issue is only with the software and Meizu's corporate attitude, they should have had FW 1.0 ready before the official release of the phone. Come on, thats not too much to ask.
And on top of that, Meizu is too busy getting their M9 built and building their Android UI (which will probably also be full of bugs and somehow different from regular Android).
And we still dont have a stable FW to use our M8's with.......
Its just illogical from a business point of view, Meizu is damaging their reputation by never coming through with a fantastic first release product.
Meizu is shooting themselves in the foot, do they think i am going to buy their next device when I am still waiting for the first one to work properly??
I have supported Meizu since long before the launch of the M8.
I have been loyal, thats all iwant in return.Last edited by JkPwNsTeR; 08-28-2009 at 03:48 PM. Reason: merged double post
