[HowTo] Configure GPRS & MMS in 0.9.2.7

Due to the fact that many people have Problems to configure GPRS and MMS i'll write here how it should work.

    GPRS:

    1. Step

Select Settings - GPRS - New*

Fill Name with ever you want.

Use Google or Forum-Search to find your providers APN, Username and Password.
    (Example: APN=internet.t-mobile, User=tm, Pw=tm)

Fill the fields with the settings.
That is enough. If you find no Proxy and Port** leave it blank.
Server need not to be filled either.

    2. Step

    only 0.9.2.7

Because there is still a Bug in the Firmware we have to activate the APN the following way:

    Install M8Sprite.
    Open M8Sprite and select Associations.
    Doubleclick 'txtfile' and select Add.
Type ini and press Enter and Save.
    Quit M8Sprite.

    Open Documents.
Go to \Windows\ and open UsrConnectNode.ini.
Change IsSelect=0 to IsSelect=1 only at your GRPS APN.
    Save.

    0.9.3.1 and higher
    Select APN in GPRS-Menu

After you opened GPRS in Settings you should be able to surf.

    MMS:

    1. Step

    A working GPRS-connection is required.

Select Settings - GPRS - New*

Fill Name with ever you want.

Use Google or Forum-Search to find your providers settings**.

    Fill in the settings (Server=MMSC).
    (Example: APN=mms.t-d1.de, User=t-mobile, Pw=mms, Proxy= 172.28.23.131, Port=8008, Server=http://mms.t-mobile.de/servlets/mms)

    2. Step

    Go to Messages - Settings.
Select the just created APN as APN.

    Restart.

If you have questions please post your provider and your settings!

    * If you have problems with adding a new APN you can delete all and then it should work. :-(
Let's hope both Bugs will be corrected in future.

** A Port is often given like this: Proxy:Port. Example 172.28.23.131:8008

After doing everything you said to do...I am still unable to send or receive MMS messages....not really suprised because I have never been able to send or receive MMS messages since I got the phone when they were first released. Guess its a false hope to think that I will ever be able to send or receive them...Oh well...

You have a working/active GPRS connection?

    What's your provider?

When I try to create another APN all the entries go into the Server field and they are all in Chinese characters.
In other words I can not create the 2nd APN after the main one is created for the Internet access.

    Any ideas?????

Had this bug yesterday...you have to remove all connections from GPRS (first disable them from UsrConnectNode.ini - change IsSelect to 0), then add all the connections you want, and then you can activate one again...

Btw, reported it here, but it seems they don't read the forum lately

    Well I tried that...
Changed the UserCOnnect thingy to 0, saved the file.
    This disabled the GPRS connection..
Created a new one... but it still showed up all in Chinese in the Server Filel....

What did I miss...??? feeling stupid...

first you have to make a new extension. but its not enough. in the new extension you have to click on "add" and add the "ini"....then it works fine!

Have the same problem as Gibson - upgraded earlier today, installed Sprite, performed the "add .ini" routine, but when I tap the UsrConnectNode file, I get the message "can not find program to open the file!"
