Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsYeah, that is what I thought. When we upgrade the firmware, it should automatically clear registry. but it's not hard to do the clear registry anyway. So before I upgrade the firmware I will clear registry first.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostI suspect that the M button and the music button are one and the same thing. I have tried holding down the power button at the same time as the each of the other buttons and I do not receive a message about resetting the registry. There is a setting for Deletion of data and system restore in the settings/system menu. Is this the same thing?

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostAccording to the Meizu.com website you clear the registry by holding down the power button and M button (the big oval button at the bottom) during startup. The clear registry screen should appear then restart continues automatically.
I have found that this appears to make no difference as applications continue to open. Maybe, it only clears the user settings and maybe the application's registry entries if there are any.
It is not clear how much of the registry is over-written during a FW upgrade. Are only important registry entries revised or is the whole registry over-written?
It could be that the failure to clear the registry before upgrades of the firmware is the reason why some M8 users find that important functions like SMS and activesync fail to function after the upgrade.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostSo the solution for a real clean registry would be to put back the original of CE ?
It must be a version with the basic informations of the M8, but... WHERE ?
Or if somebody can find a registry from a M8 which has never served...(?)

Motorcycleboy, "clearing registries" will give you the same result as flashing the same firmware that you already have. The whole registry will be overwritten, all user files (except \Disk) will be deleted.
Sorry for my pure english

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostIf this is so then there is no need to reset the registry before a firmware upgrade, as as the original poster claimed. There is still the question of why a firmware upgrade disables certain functions for some M8 users and not others. After all we are all using the same hardware, so why are we getting inconsistant results?
