M8 V0.8.0.4 Firmware
Hey people! Been roaming around on meizu bbs. Found the new v0.8.0.4 firmware for M8. Not an official release; theres no change log. Reading some comments of users (translated in english), it seems like WIFI signal bug MIGHT have been improved; but theirs still bugs for sure. Test it out for us guys!

Thanks a lot for sharing, I couldn't find a working link. I must however warn you: (according to some users on the BBS) This was made BEFORE 0.8.0.3 official release. You won't be able to backup/restore contacts!

Do you know of any fixes or if theres a change log?

From one user of the BBS... sounds a bit sketchy.

1. Signal search faster on bootup (was 20sec, now 5sec).
2. Thumbnail generation now much quicker.
3. Touch screen more precise.
4. Greatly improved signal strength.
5. Keyboard now faster.
6. Battery life improved.
7. Call quality greatly improved.

Wow! Thats pretty good, if its all correct. I hope people test it!
BTW Makes me wont an M8 right now!

Sorry, but none of those are worth much to me at this point unless we can get an official release (of the fw). I don't have a problem with any of those items... So don't see a point in updating yet.

Also goes to proove that M8 is little more than a beta device at this time... these sort of changes aren't what are made for pre-release market devices.

i will only install official firmwares, wont bother trying fan-made ones, sorry
i like the fixes though, i would love seeing them live

It has been reported that copy & paste in SMS now works in this version.

if i do an fw upgrade, will my saved SMSs disappear? i know i have to to do a contact backup, Err0r, what do you mean by not being able to do so in this version?

Backup/Import was introduced in 0.8.0.3, this version is reported to not have a import function.

Here are some responses to the firmware v0.8.0.4 on m8fans.com. There are some bug fixes/improvements, and others not. The page is translated so its a bit hard to interpret.

hmmm... i will let my local chinese colleague verify this ver 0.4 fw, i will be glad to explore this new fw for all of you meizu fans..i wont mind it cost my contact list, because all still on my SIM card.. .hehehhe

It's on the same page... You are either lazy or that ignorant.

pKraz and all of m8 fans... sorry, until now i was not able to get the 0.4 fw, me and my local chinese colleagues here found out that items listed/ upgrades is not working properly (yet)on the unofficial 0.4 fw...so it was removed from the shareware link... anyway lets wait for a while, as they (chinese source) said the official 0.4 fw will be released soon - maybe after Chinese New year holiday... (people here are now on work vacation).

so lets wait for the official version of the 0.4
