Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsIm using Windows Vista and I also cannot see a root-folder (since there are 3 "top directory" folders displayed).
The folder you need to copy the xip.bin file is the "Disk" folder.

For the record, the "ROOT" folder is the first folder you'll see when you open the M8 disk in Windows Explorer.
Also, next time, please only post your question once, someone will get to it either way.

Thanked 1,024 Times in 375 PostsThe root is where you can see all the folders like Photos, Videos, Music, etc... put the xip.bin there. If you put it in the wrong place, it won't update, and you won't brick your phone

correct me but the root is the upper folder where everything is in.
click on the "removeable medium" in your "My Computer" and there you put the .bin file.
the address-line should only say: F:\
F is an example for your removeable medium (M8), that's the root!

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostHi,
I always received a "Failed,Please try again" message even if I put the xip.bin file into the root "disk" directory.
Has anyone experienced this?
Thanks in advance.

Thanked 9 Times in 5 Postsi think i had it only once, and it worked on second attempt. try re-copying the xip file into the disk directory, or make a fresh download and install, just in case there is a problem in the xip you downloaded.
