[Official] FW 0.9.6.9 - 06.02.2010 (w/ New UI)
Changelog
  1. New user interface
  2. Support for widgets on desktop
  3. Drag icon from the desktop to uninstall programs and plug-ins
  4. Holding the M button or sliding down the middle of the title bar now brings up the Task Manager
  5. Slide down the left side of the title bar to switch between running applications
  6. Changed the way copy and paste works
  7. Music player can now auto-download album art
  8. New video playback scaling functionality
  9. New lock screen / double-clicking the M button will pop-up a music player widget
  10. Added video / audio file editing functionality
  11. Additional music, desktop widgets
  12. New transition effects when browsing images
  13. Added the weather app and weather widget
  14. M8 to M8 file transfer through WLAN
  15. Enhancee e-mail functionality (e-mail auto-receive, unread status changes to empty Drafts, e-mail Bcc)
  16. Font settings, themes, and bookmarking added to ebook app
  17. Notepad now has new animations
  18. Added SMS encryption
  19. Improved the efficiency of mass SMS
  20. Added text font features
  21. Added SMS blacklist functionality
  22. MMS support for multi-frame forwarding and audio playback
  23. New call settings: (1) Automatic recording of all calls, (2) Ability to switch off vibrate-on-answer
  24. Added IP dialing function
  25. Contacts with the same name will now be merged
  26. New contact search functionality
  27. Support for international country codes (?)
  28. Province identification of phone calls (China-only)
  29. System settings backup and recovery now includes icons
  30. Added a download management app
  31. Added Mobile QQ (Chinese IM) app
  32. Added MStore app (software download database)


Please don't use any 3rd party applications like M8Sprite to restore any system settings such as your desktop icons!

you can sync your contacts with a software (only chinese i guess) that will be release soon.

you will not be able to sync contacts with outlook directly

No, your old registry will be erased via formatting system before extracting new firmware in upgrade process.
