M8 Firmware (New UI) - Jan 29.

Changelog:

- Firmware Version: 0.9.5.345
- Old keyboard layout is back - Make sure you install the B version if you need this!



- Some changes to MSN app - message history looks different already
- Face recognition with camera no longer works (only on SE models and I think not all of them have FR cameras)
- Wifi settings translated
- Calendar and Clock widgets still in chinese
- Recorder can't seem to be able to record voice memos (after stopping it nothing happens) update: it saves voice memos under phone recordings
- Restoring desktop icons works good (from M8 backup)
- New UI design when taking photos from the phonebook
- photo thumbnail size changed in file browser

Again a new firmware!? Crazy people at Meizu... but good for us .

Wasn´t there vote for the keyboard ? ..seems like Meizu really listens to the users.
I am curious, if they activated the sliding funtion in this keyboard..like right/left/up/down..so you can edit it, like in FW 0933.

and is it just me or did the new kb layout remember the last language we used ? like i never had to switch from eng to chinese and vise versa

Yes, the new keyboard remembers the chosen language

i prefer the new keyboard, because it has a key where you can easily reach all the normal punctuation marks without having to switch between layers all the time. i really hope they wont abandon the new keyboard!!!

oh my god. the old KB is bullshit ... (see an older post in another topic lost in MeizuMe to see my reasons)
As said, I really hope a setting will be made so we can chose the KB we want (in System and not choosing which fw to install).

Has somebody tried the email function? Is now the bug at receiving from emails fixed?

price drop, new firmwares, meizu is definitely having good start to the year, lets hope it continues!

Other Changes:
- There is another animation when enter the pin ad press the ok button
- Settings/WLAN: The symbol if you've got signal or net etc. changed a bit more to grey
- They finally changed it: Last leaks when you went to Settings/About/Legal you could only see some text, not the whole text! Now you can see it...
- The animation when you open the "Weather" program (which is still not working...) and press the left corner (three grey lines) is now a lot of smoother...

Changes (don't know if they are new):
- The "m" icon from MyStore etc. changed a bit. But this was some leaks ago... it's not really soooo new...
- When you go to Settings/System you've got a lot of settings... and "Format disk" and "Deletion of data and system restor...". I think this order was different the last leaks. Correct me if I'm wrong.

-> Deletion of data and system restor...: There you've got the following options:
->> Clear all contacts
->> Empty all the information (good that they didn't write "informations" )
->> Reset Network Settings
->> Reset All Settings

Is the old layout still SIP?

there is one funny thing (bug) in the musicplayer: it is impossible to get lyrics or the cover for the latest guns´n´roses release....called:
"Chinese democracy"...
...and it´s banned in china as far as i know...

some quick testing observations:
- was able to send a long sms message to myself; received as several individual 67 character messages
- after (manual) email refresh I do not see new email notification on lock screen (just sms)
- do not get new email notification on desktop icon (but think that has been this way for some time now)
- when sending email, hit "hide" on status window and it did not hide...email stopped working
- email auto-refresh is working
- on sent/received emails using english as default language the subject content and timestamp overlap the text "subject" (looks like UI translate spacing issue)
- zoom in camera working
- msn client working fine

what do you mean by "Install B Version"?

If you download the rar file there's going to be two firmwares in it, like I explained in the first post. The B folder contains the firmware with the old-ui-like keyboard layout.
The two firmwares are exactly the same except the keyboard.
