The "M8" is Meizu´s first mobilephone... no company that introduced their first mobilephone was perfect at the very first day... and all of you knew that when you bought your Meizu... Most of us even bought the M8 when it was still a "beta" phone (Nov2008-Feb2009).
If you didnt know that then its your own fault for not informing yourself enough.

In todays day and age no one can hide behind such an excuse, it is a GLOBAL market, just because it is a first phone from them is not a valid excuse... This company did not form Nov2008-Feb2009 as you stated... it has a good consumer base, and a lot of experience in manufacturing portable devices, and should not have ventured into a Communication device market if they did not have the capability to deliver...
A Cell Phone these days is not a Luxury... it is a Life Line, needs to work all the time as it is intended...

You talk about the leaks and half cooked versions, but for your information, even the so called "Official Versions" have bugs up the Wassuu... things done work as they should all the times... the things work... but are moody... that is not a good product.

Further, you talk about the Beta version " "beta" phone (Nov2008-Feb2009)" what is a beta version???
Something that is not tested, not ready for market, and usually is distributed for free so that it can be tested in the real world, lessons learnt and solutions implemented ... I freaking paid about $400 for this phone... What Beta????

And once again, I bring up the subject of so called "Leaks", looks like Meizu has kids working and thieves standing outside the building, on the first chance a kid walks out with a fW, the thieves snatch it and upload on the net... do you think that is what is going on here... JW releases the so called Leaks.. on purpose....

beta guys, everybody should wait for some REAL progress. (able to use Wifi and call/text + fully english)

We can all see it is not ready, so i recommend not to try, maybe some leak can fuck up your phone, just an idea....

I tried the 0.9.5.7 - see the other thread. Second FW after the 1.0.0.1 . And?
All the Problems seems to be gone? The SIM works bus has to be set to NO PIN. No more CE-Error-Messages. Still a few Chinese Menus and so. But i can use it as a Phone! Thanks!

Doesn't work:
- network operator search
- SMS only receive, not possible to send
- no sms, mms settings posible ??
- WIFI to GPRS toggle
- lots of old bugs: time zone, actice syncing, ...

I'm digging the new UI.

However, as some others have mentioned, we have waited a loooong time for a good, ironed-out firmware for use outside of China. I hope 1.0 will finally bring it to us.

I think we must have a new Swithlang for french guys because we have again chinese text in FW 1.0.0.1

Example when we are in start, we slide for sms or call and we have a chinese text in the middle of the screen

If you want to pin me down on some sentences then at least READ PROPERLY please....
I said it was in BETA between Nov2008 to Feb2009, when they began to sell with a license for wlan, exact dates in wikipedia article .... Didnt say Meizu just started by then.. <.<
And the phone was never intended to be for the Global market, thats why Meizu concentrates on Chinese market + doesnt support most non chinese standarts(languages, networks etc)...

But thats how companies advance.. once upon a time they spread into new markets/niches etc and ofc, for a few years their products do not match the ones of established companies in those niches straight away....

Then you shouldve either waited for a MeizuM8 3G version or bought something else since the M8 was never said to be PERFECT... If you gathered your information in this forum before buying you shouldve stumbled upon lots of posts regarding bugs and the "unfinished" state of the firmware...

I partially agree with official versions having bugs... but show me one phone (especially from a newer company) that is perfect in every firmware? For instance... I HIGHLY doubt the "Comulab Exeda" is bug free at all... and its like the M8 new to the mobile market....
Additionally.. all official versions were "0.9.x.x" firmwares... the "0.x" indicates that its not fully completed/ready anyway... thats how you enumerate FWs...

If I remember correctly, when the M8 was introduced in Nov2008 they said it wasnt completed and in beta state... hence no official WLAN license etc, it was sold for testing purposes etc and mostly high-tech-enthusiasts bought the phone for the capabillities and possibilities of (by then) unmatched 667MHZ etc etc...
All MeizuM8 are shipped from China ´cause it was just intended to be available there in the first place.. ever heard of "grey market"? Thats where you probably got your M8 from.. non-official sellers...

Well I guess the point of the abundant amount of "leaks" is to
1) "advertise" (in terms of keeping the community updated) newer firmwares/developments of the phone -> prime example is the new UI...
2) test the new firmwares... 1000 users may better detect bugs than 10 testers....
And once again.. since it is labelled LEAK and still a 0.x.x.x version it really MEANS that it is not completed..

My 2 cents....

I hope youll see my points. If not then the M8 mightve been the wrong choice for you. I picked it for several reasons: Cheaper while having better stats than the Iphone... Not being an overpriced "Mac" utility... Still in development/more open source than Iphone aaaaand last but not least not having to pay for apps...

wow, great! the firmware does not work with any german provider - good work! beta, leak or not - it should at least be possible to make phone calls!
