    Installing & UnInstalling

    Guys,
    I have a question, rather 2 questions.
First: During upgrades and all after an upgrade, I have to reinstall all the applications that I want on the phone, but most of the times, I see even if I do not install an app.. there is already a folder for that app and files in it. What this means is that if I do not install an app after an upgrade, I still see a folder with files on the Phone, Is there a way to delete all these Orphaned files if there is no application by that name installed.
In English: Is there a way to UNINSTALL apps before I do an upgrade so that all the files related to an app are deleted, and there are no junk/orphaned files left on the Phone after Upgrade.

Second: After the last Eng_MUI install, which I may say looks good my SMS service to chacha or Google Text Services has stopped working.
If I send a text to Google, it responde with "Access Denied".. Has anyone else seen this issue as well..????
Could there be a messed up setting that is doing this??

    Thanks

You don't have to reinstall all the apps, just save your desktop with M8Sprite before upgrade and then restore it after the upgrade, it works fine for me

After the upgrade you have to start M8Sprite "manually" via
    documents -> disk -> programm files -> M8Sprite -> M8Sprite.exe

    Thanks for the tip...
But now I have another question, I did go into the M8Sprite (I have ver 1.1.0) but I did not see any backup option there. Under one of the headings there is "backup Desktop Icons", but does this also backup the applications or just the icons???
Is there an option I am missing here to backup the whole thing...????

actually most of your apps install on the Disk partition (8Go). This partition is not formated during upgrade or registries clearing (ie you still have all your mp3, photos, videos after upgrading).
So all your apps are still there after FW upgrade! You just have to restore all your icons (icon = shortcut!) on your desktop with M8Sprite (only icons!).
Nevertheless some apps have to be re installed anyway:
    - all apps installed in the device root file "program files" (such as WiFi & BT control, GAPI...)
    - all apps installed in WINDOWS directory (such as control.exe = control panel)
    - M8 Profile: after FW upgrade, even if the app is still present on your Disk and works fine, the active icon (showing the name of active profile) is not working anymore...

    Hope it helps!

The Sprite way is effective but not good.
The reason being that after the icons are restored, although the apps are working, but the system cannot see them as installed. So as a result if there is a need to uninstall any application it is not possible.

So I will come to my original question: Any good way to uninstall the apps before an upgrade??

Yeah if you have remaining installed programs from a previous firmware the best you can do is to delete their folder manually.
