If a gps-receiver doesn't work, is it a issue with the M8 or with the navigation software?
Has anyone had the case where a receiver worked with one software but didn't work with another? Any case suggesting that it's a problem with the M8 or a problem with the software would help...

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI have a royaltek rbt-2200 sirf III gps receiver but it seems it doesn't works with Igo8 and my M8. Don't know wich com port and bautrate I need to choose.
Just try with Route 66 and it's working like a charm. Is there a way to find wich port is used on route66? So I can do the same with Igo8.Last edited by SnowleX; 04-03-2009 at 09:50 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Poststhe problem why igo cant detect most of the gps receivers is that it cant comunicate with a bluetooth device directly like route 66.
you need to create a serial connection over the bluetooth stack on the m8.
unfortunately you cant create a serial connection to the gps receiver on the m8, you just get an error message.
the question is, is something missing in the bluetooth stack on the m8 or is it simple the btconfig that doesnt allow it?
i spent hours finding a solution for this problem, tryed the bluetooth connetion over the control.exe from wince, searched for programs on then net that would aid me with this problem without any luck.
so i think without a proper bluetooth stack/configuration(that let us create a serial connection) added to the firmware from meizu itself we are stuck with route 66.
or hopefully a programmer is able to create a little tool that lets us use a serial connection over bt(com0/3/4/8 still free for use).Last edited by Magic_k0; 04-10-2009 at 07:39 AM.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsigo8 needs the gps receiver connectet on one of the comports 1-9, and with most bt gps receivers you simply create a serial connection in the bt config(like com4 baudrate9600) so igo8 can find it on the port you configurated.
the problem is the M8 bt config wont let you create a serial connection with get gps receiver(you just get an error msg), and igo8 has no built in bluetooth config to comunicate directly with the bt gps like route66(it creates the serial connection himself).
so editing the sys.txt gets you sadly nowhere.
creation a serial connection on a pc with a normal bt stack is such a simple and quick task(takes a few seconds to connect my bt gps on my pc), sadly it isnt on the m8.
with a normal bt stack/config on the m8 this problems would be long histroy, and everyone could use his bt gps receiver with the programm he likes most.
i really hope that meizu is changing that or that a programmer creates a tool for it.Last edited by Magic_k0; 04-14-2009 at 09:54 AM.

There is a bluetooth app on Meizu bbs forum that route the bluetooth reciever to a COM-port. I dont have a direct link right now.
I have the .cab package at home, so I can upload it later on today so you guys can test it with igo. Some times, I get this feeling that i really want to work out! But then I sit down on the couch and wait till it disappears..
