Igo8.3.2 on M8
I'm proud to announce that I finally got the navigation software Igo8.3.2 running on my M8.
For everyone who wants to try it out as well, PM me.
Some things you need to change: there is a sys.txt which has to have following content:
Igo runs on my M8 only in 480x640 and even this only with a modified data.zip, you can pull from the gpsunderground-forum as well. I think it would be possible to somehow run in native resolution, but I'm not yet that far. 60 pixels missing at the bottom isn't that bad. You can use hide32.exe to hide the taskbar but you don't really need to, either...Code:[RAWDISPLAY] screen_x = 480 screen_y = 640 [folders] app="/Disk/prog/iGO8" [poi] enable_pois_before_090217=1 [interface] maxzoom2d=6000000 show_exit=1 [map] 2dheadup=1
It's not possible to make screenshots from within the application so these are from my digicam (hope they work...):
This is a 3D-view of Berlin which runs relatively smooth (2D is better apparently).
The interface is very fast and intuitive, English language is standard but can be customized...
Well this is the cherry on top: I was able to download a kmz-file from PoiPlaza and am able to search for Fon-Wifi-Spots.
The hotspots even show up on the map.
I don't owe a gps-receiver yet, but I'm pretty confident that it shouldn't be a problem since the software cleary supports it.
I just love my M8

So I borrowed a gps-receiver from a friend but it doesn't work. The thing is: the receiver doesn't work with MioMap2008 either. I don't know the manufacturer or the model...
I've heard some people got their receiver working with the M8, can you give me some hints? I guess you have to pair up with the device and then it's just supposed to work, right? Does anyone know a cheap working receiver?

I was able to get this up and working, but I can not get Igo to find the Bluetooth GPS receiver. It is paired with the device, but I can not find the com port settings. Does anyone know how to set the bluetooth com ports on the M8, or at least be able to see what they are set to?

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsMy gps receiver is working with route66, so it seems it's a problem with Igo8 and not with the M8. Any ideas how to solve it?

It's been awhile since I did some work with IGO8, but I got some news:
first of all it's possible to convert POI data to a format recognizable by IGO8 using a program called "IGO POI Explorer". So you can download the current POIs from fon and convert them to a IGO8 kmz. This is a great improvement since the POIs from POI-Plaza aren't that good.
Now to the GPS-receiver issue: Most GPS receivers work with Route 66 but fail with IGO8. There is a program called BT-com which maps a bluetooth gps-device on a com port, so it should be recognized by IGO8. The tool can be found here. More information on the topic can be found in this thread. I just ordered the Navilock GPS BT-413 which is supposed to work in the described way. I'll keep you posted as soon as I got it...
