Hmm... Perhaps because it is not an application for the M8? If there was native Google Maps, it would be in the forums.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI would't go with google maps unless you had unlimited data and a fast GPRS connection.... but wait --- no integrated GPS makes it even more worthless.

anyone would know about IGS maps that we could use with M8?
I don't necessarilly need GPS functionality. An application which could display a higly detailed map with search ability would be far enough!
It's even better if it does not need any GPRS connection...

but you can use them "offline" too

the links:
http://bbs.meizu.com/viewthread.php?tid=851258
here are some screenshots:
Actually,it's not a software, the author said,it showed maps by html file, and he's reseaching the API and trying to make the real software.
The HTML file download:
map.rar
Use Opera to Open it.Last edited by topsky; 03-17-2009 at 04:54 PM.

I'm pretty sure that it's streaming data off of Google's map servers, so all you would have to do is to pan the map a bit.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostI'm still working on building this program, I promise, I've hit quite a few snags in it, mainly due to the fact that I was porting it. WinCE 5 and WinCE 6 are so different that I can't pull a direct port. So its requiring me to build it from scratch. The Meizu M8 isn't my main phone so I haven't been able to use it as much as I should have, but now I've been focusing my whole attention into these project that I promised. Right now since the phone doesn't have a built in GPS, so i don't have a way around it where you can be driving and the phone can pick up your location and give you better directions (basic functions of the gps). But I can build the program itself and take advantage of the multitouch I have all the .dll files all put to together need to make it look good and jazz things up. Word of warning this is going to be a huge file....I'm not as good as Google with compressing files. This is kicking my M8's ass...

I'm looking forward to testing your soft Style!
Any way we could load maps of different countries? Subway maps of different countries? Any kind of map actually!Last edited by dark13; 03-18-2009 at 07:17 AM.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostThe google maps version that I'm using is based off of the Street View version. When using it, it changes language based on where you are looking. Look in japan, the language is japanese, look in germany, the language is german. It should make things a lot easier. Now the program itself I'm building in English because I don't speak anything other than spanish, german, and french...and I didn't want to alienate too many people so its going to be in a universal english. I'm not sure if the Streetview version has a subway view on it but I will see. So far I hit a snag where I put the program on the phone and you have to press and hold on a location to bring up streetview and search instructions and directions....well when I click on streetview (which to my knowledge is only available in US) I can't zoom out...which sucks, but its all baby steps right now. I wish google would have just done this...lol

Thanked 19 Times in 11 PostsSo when you will have a google map on meizu working with the gprs?
-

Unlikely... GPRS is as slow or slower than dial-up, so loading speeds will be near unbearable. It can even take a long time to load text.
