for all of you ppl who use gmail, this is good news. the built in email client can be set up to get messages from the gmail server via pop3 access. here's an introduction how to set it up.

Well... I can't read anything but still good news

I don't use GMAIL but for the ones using it it's great! I think you can use most of the e-mail providers... it woudn't make any sense for me if you coudn't!

Thanked 29 Times in 16 Poststhere's not much to read, you just enter the amil settings, and fill in your account details, including the port and encryption. this latter two are not that obvious to work with every client, cause most of the fee webmail services don't require such.
anyway, i just linked the original post so you can see i'm not making it up :D略懂

Well didn't mean it that way that I can't read it
*I really want to read it, thought =p*
If you only have to enter your e-mail provider's settings like port and all that stuff, your own e-mail-account settings, it whould work with every E-Mail provider.
I mean... with Microsoft Outlook you can get your e-mails from every provider (I think so).
So I'm quite sure 80% of the e-mail providers should work on the M8

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI wonder if the m8 supports Push-data. It was such a point of critisism on the iPhone and big feature update on the firmware for something that seems in my eyes not that hard to implement.
Never really use it though, but I understand how it can be vital for business users.ZTE Blade

thats great but what exactly are you gonna do with it? use it over edge? seems kind of pointless to me. Infact doing anything on the internet using edge seems pointless to me unless you got a lot of free time on your hands.

actually if your language is in english on your M8, the "Mail" apps is directly english as well... I've been using this function on my M8 on gmail (emails) receiving and sendings email ever since i have my m8. The set-up to do are the ff;
1) at you gmail account, go to setting, Forwarding and POP/IMAP, and tick the "Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on". other settings you can set as you like.... then save changes.
2) on your M8 "Mail", go to settings, and create an account.
Account info;
name : (its up to you)
address: (your gmail email address)
description: (its up to you)
Incoming Server (POP3)
Host name: pop.gmail.com
user name: (your gmail email address)
password: (your gmail password)
Outgoing Server (SMTP)
Host name: smtp.gmail.com
user name: (your gmail email address)
password: (your gmail password)
(On more.. you can put signature and other settings you like...)
Incoming Settings;
Use SSL : (turn it on)
server port: 995
Outgoing settings;
Use SSL : (turn it on)
server port: 465
that's it... I hope this will help

Thanks for replying. I have all those settings already but it just keeps coming up with an error saying: 'password error or username invalid'
Could you make up a sample setting sheet, with a fake email address too. Just to better illustrate what way it should be.
Thanks

Username is not your whole email address. (if your mail address is tails2@gmail.com, than you only have to enter tails2)Last edited by nice2know_u; 02-03-2009 at 05:46 PM.
