I had the same problems but for me works now. Do this what Soliduz wrote and when you create a new Account try "name@gmail.com" not "name@googlemail.com"...

I am sorry for that post, but it still won't work for me. All I can read is "failed to refresh". Here ist what I tried so far:

1. username w/o gmail or googlemail
2. username with gmail
3. username with googlemail
4. same again with different ("easier") password

inbetween all the steps I removed the content of the email - folder via my pc. pop is enabled in my gmail, also pop works for my outlook (which uses the username@googlemail.com - setup).

Any suggestions?

1. is there actualy mail in your account? (i think failed to refresh can also mean 'no new mail')
2. are you checking in longer intervals then 5 minutes? Gmail wont allow to check for email with too short periodes. So, if your PC checks for mail and then your M8 short after it might get a message 'you are checking too fast for new email' or something like that.

yes, there is new mail in my account and I also gave gmail some time between the connection attempts. My FW is the newest available, if that matters, and I try to download my mail via wifi, opera works just fine.

Since the whole performance of the phone is pretty slow at the moment, probably because I installed and removed a couple of things today to test some software, I am thinking about formatting my disk and re-newing the FW. Maybe that helps...

Here for all with GMAIL Update Problems:

01. Connect your M8 with USB
02. Open the Folder "Email"
03. Delete the Folder "GMAIL (example: theshocker@gmail.com)
04. Disconnect your M8 from USB
05. create GMAIL Account (example: Configuring other mail clients - Gmail Help)

IMPORTANT:
SSL Activate for POP3: Server Port995
SSL Activate for SMTP: Server Port465 or 587

(the Port Number are important!)

06. now testing and thank me later when it works

I have 0.9.6.9 now, everythingworked with the previous firmware and these settings: metacafe.com/watch/2534900/configure_your_gmail_hotmail_adress_with_the_meizu _m8/

Now it does not. I tried both settings, (those above and those in Gmail help) mixed them and nothing yet. The email settings menu in 0.9.6.9 is slightly different, with less options - but if you guys managed.. I really don't understand.

Does really anyone has 0.9.6.9 and working email configured to Gmail?
