M8 built in email client working with GMAIL

Ups, you do not mean gmail ?!, cause this thread is "M8 built in email client working with GMAIL"
..but anyway, hopefully you find the settings for your client.(Could be that they do not have those possibilities like gmail...)

is it possible to set it up with wifi? i dont have a data plan.

Yeah, I only use WiFi. and no prob so far.

You couldn't know it. I thought it is not necessary to open a new thread for every provider. So far I wasn't able to change any settings regarding this problem, but eventually I will change my email provider.

Same here... :S

For me too, older FW works but with the newest no chance..

I think the 'update fail' is a message you get when there was no email.
Gmail worked well for me in 0.9.7.7 and 0.9.8.4. I did not try in 0.9.8.6 by now.

Tip for every User with Email Problems!

Connect your M8 with your PC per USB - Open the Folder "Email" - delete all from the Folder - disconnect your M8 from USB - create new Email Account - voila' it works

........for me it works with the FW 0.9.7.7 with Yahoo Account but not with GMX.de

Deleted the folder and set everything new but still not working. I’m using these settings:
Name: just the name I also enter in the browser if I want to login Gmail.
Address: name@gmail.com
Incoming server (pop3)
Host Name: pop.gmail.com
Username: again just the name I use in the browser.
Password: well that’s clear
Outgoing Server (SMTP)
Host Name: smtp.gmail.com
Username and password are the same as in pop3.
SSL for pop3 I tried 110 and also 995(from a Chinese webpage)
SSL for SMTP I tried 25 and also 465(also form Chinese webpage)
It did work with the old UI, and I think with one of the first new UI versions too, but already not working for a long time and I kind of need it, what am I doing wrong?

I think nothing I have the same problem, with 0.9.6.12 works(I think)

I delete the folder, same setting with different ssl settings, changed gmail to googlemail...

But nothing happens

I use exactly the same settings and it works flawless...
(Name= whatever i like, adress= exact email adress
pop.gmail.com (port 995), smtp.gmail.com (port 465))

Please check again in your GMAIL account if POP3 is enabled and if your password is exactly the same (maybe change it to something easier to check)

I tied ...@googlemail.com and ...@gmail.com
checked the PW over and over but still not working. I’m using FW 0.9.8.4 maybe I downgrade to 0.9.7.9
@forty7eleven: Are you using wifi or gprs? Or both? for me none is working.

oh, sorry forgot to update my signature,
i am trying 0.9.8.6 right now and tried 0.9.8.4 before and reported on email sending in the leak thread (it worked)

Thank you Soliduz, deleted my folder again with all inside and configurate the account new....now gmail works for me on FW 0.9.8.6

Haven't got anything to delete in the folder because i's never worked.
On the other hand the weather app, googlemaps, and Gmail via browser are fine - it's just this one.

same here.. i use 0.9.8.6 and i put in the right settings. all i get is "failed to refresh"

Again:

01. Connect your M8 with USB
02. Open the Folder "Email"
03. Delete the Data Base File "email" and the Folders (example: blablabla@yahoo.com, xxxx@gmail.com etc.)
04. Disconnect your M8 from USB
05. create new Email Account (example: Configuring other mail clients - Gmail Help)
06. thank me later when it works

Also 'failed to refresh' sometimes seems to mean 'no new email'
