I have the same kind of error with username or password error during authentification process...
I entered everything the same as any other mail client.. ???

Yahoo mail classic no POP option, so can not do to M8. Yahoo Mail Plus has POP, so can apply to M8 email apps, but Yahoo Mail Plus requires payment.

this is an old thread but anyway 2 questions reg. gmail on my meizu m8 )fw 0.9.3.8):
1) I managed to install my gmail-account. I activated in the settings under retrieve "10 latest messages" and I get pretty old ones. how can that be ? i don't want to download all my mails and I definitely don't get the recent......
2) when I want to look at my mails via the browser with mail.google.com or gmail.com I can just see the top (search box) left side of the menu (with contacts, chat,...), not the actual mails.

any ideas about these issues ?

for the 1st Question, I think you need to change the POP/IMAP Setting of your Gmail Account.
Go to gmail, to do so.

For the 2nd, i never tried to go to gmail on the M8 but, is your inbox empty ? or is all the frame white ?

2 problems..


1) gmail is not working for me. It keeps telling me invalid login and password. ( i did only put my username as username, not username@gmail.com)

2) when I select to show only recent 10 msgs, the dled messages arent recent

1) Don't know how to fix it, I also just put my username in the username field and my full gmail address in address field, obviously.

2) See the 1) of my previous message; i do think it's because your Gmail account isn't properly set.

1st done, it's in settings - forwarding and POP/ IMAP - Enable POP for mail that arrives from now on
2nd: I see just the frames above and on the right side, not the area where the mails should be.......

^ Oh yeah, i just tried to connect to Gmail from the browser (never tried before, as I said, since I use the "Mail" app). I do have a interface problem. It might be the same as yours, I only see, the left panel, then the "Invite" and "Chat" Box are expending to the right.
Don't know how to fix that ... maybe by using the "simple HTML interface" of Gmail instead.

When you login/connect on Gmail, you first have a blue loading bar, just next to it there's a link which permit you to switch to "Simple HTML"

just in case you missed this part. for gmail settings, one has to enable the encryption for both incoming/outgoing servers.
and I just put my username without the "@gmail.com" there. my gmail account works flawlessly.

not yet, but chances are good it will be added. The GUI shows already the selection, but only pop3 is available.

I don't have an icon for mail...does anyone know of a way to get it to show up? Thanks.

I've got a little problem with this Email client. It's working with my Emailaccount, but when I try to refresh or update it, I'll always download the last 10 mails from my account, eventhough they are not new and when I refresh again I get the last 10 mails before the other ones. Or in other case if I have 2-3 new Emails I get these 2-3 Mails and 7-8 old ones.
Is there any way to prevent it from downloading all the old emails except deleting them in my account?

I even got gmail running in the browser. if you follow the mail-link on the google.com startpage it opens like it should !

So you mean I have to adjust the settings of my Emailaccount. Unfortunately I'm not using gmail, but I'll will try and see what I can do . Thanks!
