Thank You JTC :)

Placed my order, paid, it shipped.

Just how it is supposed to happen.

Plus it seems that JTC is the first to carry the 8GB players state-side.
WTG JTC!

Glad that we met your expectations. Just to make note, these are Meizu 8GB M6's not the Dane-Elec versions that we carry in the 4GB. I was losing way too many customers and too much credibility waiting for the Dane-Elec version to make it here, so I chose to get the Meizu OEM players.

Probably a noob question: What is the difference between Dane-Elec unit and Meizu OEM?

Dane-Elec has proprietary firmware based on the Meizu firmware. The only major differences are 1. the Dane-Elec logo replaces the Meizu logo and 2. the Dane-Elec firmware supports more languages out of the box, primarily for their European market.
  • Meizu OEM: English, Traditional and Simplified Chinese
  • Dane-Elec: Danish, Dutch, Deutsch, English, French, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish
  • Firmware is interchageable between units (must be SP).
  • Using Meizu firmware on D-E units does not void the D-E warranty.
  • The EU version of D-E firmware disables FM radio and adds volume limit of 35. US version does not have these limits.
All hardware is identical between units, though D-E units may use D-E flash memory and Meizu OEM may use a different brand.

Which one of the two is the best and most reliable, and does the flash memory differences, make any discernable difference to the user of the product ?

There has been no discernable difference in quality or performance that I can tell between the two versions. I don't think that anyone would know the difference in the flash memory unless you physically took apart the player.

I'm of the opinion that most flash drives are very similar unless there is a significant speed difference. With these, I don't see that as anything other than Dane wanting to support their own products, nothing more.

About the best thing with the D-E players is that they still include the cleaning cloth and carrying pouch. Meizu has discontinued including these in their packaging, but the D-E still includes it, at least for the time being.

Thanks for the info, info is the key!! Are you seeing any problems with the
Meizu or Dane-Electric brand 8G? Do people like the firmware?

Thanks WT

I've sold both and have not had any problems with any of them so far. Firmware seems to be stable on both versions, and honestly, no one has expressed any concerns or preferences for either version firmware. Since they are easy enough to interchange, it really hasn't come up very often. The only request I do occassionally get is if they are D-E versions to change it to Meizu firmware before shipping to allow Chinese characters to display properly.

Most of my players are sold in the US, with some going overseas. Int'l customers seem to prefer the D-E because of the extended language options, while US customers haven't expressed any real preference.

So, the Dane Elec versions don't have the full support of Chinese characters? I'm kinda confused on this part, because I notice that you only have 4GB miniplayers in the Dane-Elec version, and not in the Meizu version.

Also, do you ship to Canada? If so, how much is the shipping approximately.

Thanks in advanced.
