Though this thread is in the German corner of meizume, many people from the English forum have joined here to discuss BatMan. That's why languages mix up a bit, you'll have to read it all if you don't want to miss a thing. Sorry about that inconvenience.

Got any technical problem like your video does not convert or the program does not run at all ? Look the first aid that can be found here (German) and here (English).
- use BatMan as a
general purpose converter,
here is how.
[Updates vom 02.03.2008] :
- bugfixings
- Q5 reworked (last version had some problems distributing the bitrate in long movies. further minimized the chances of stuttering, in my tests it does not stutter at all)
[Updates vom 24.02.2008] :
- some minor bug fixings
- please replace the files in the plugin folder with the ones from plugins\default, there was a problem with the ones I provided in the last release, making BatMan suddenly close
- new special command (plugin) "tweak" (adds saturation and denoise)
[Updates vom 22.02.2008] :
- Q5 : risk of high action stuttering further minimized (but not 100% eliminated)
- added some helpful messages to the output protocol
- skips some common non-video files found in folders (txt, jpg etc ..)
- plugins : CURRENTFILE can now be changed to another file
- custom commands can now have any name (e.g. plugins\my custom command.bat)
[Updates vom 12.02.2008] :
- tells you if a special command does not exist
- lets you make your own plugins and your own special commands
- reworked bitrate distribution for all profiles, with an emphasis on Q5. This should keep tearing at bay much better while at the same time offers a better method to prevent artifacts in dark areas of the image. Uploaded a
new demo movie
- please reload this version once more (there was a bug)
[Updates vom 10.02.2008] :
- increased scene change detection sensitivity now favors the use of keyframes which can help preventing block errors in playback
- a keyframe is generated at least every 6 seconds, resulting in more comfortable fast forwarding
- silent mode shows no protocol anymore (it's still in ~BatMan\log)
- audio delay wasn't set correctly when switching devices *fixed*
[Updates vom 08.02.2008] :
- "&" can now be used in filenames and folders (this was tough ..)
- DVD output directory couldn't be recalled properly *fixed*

- manually correcting egg-heads didn't work (scroll down to learn about switches!) *fixed*
- started making video tutorials
[Updates vom 05.02.2008] :
- (beta) some minor bug fixes
- (beta) now supports concert DVDs with dts and lpcm audio streams
- (beta) video analysis is now much faster
- (beta) videos with Umlauts in their filenames didn't decode with DirectShow *fixed*
- (beta) mpeg1/2 videos didn't have the right aspect ratio in DirectShow mode, now using mencoder method *fixed*

Last but not least, here is a short list of useful tricks and tweaks for BatMan's special command "switch" :
-subfont-autoscale 0 -subfont-text-scale 10 custom subtitle font size (here 10 pixels)
-subcp enca:p
l:cp1250 (guess that subtitles are Polish, fall back to cp1250)
-vf-add scale=220:320,crop=240:320,expand=240:320:::1 correct egg-heads by 20 pixels in height (240-220).
values >240 do the opposite
-vf scale=240:320,rotate=1 stretch/shrink video to fit (produces egg-heads)
-lavcopts acodec=mp2 use mp2 instead of mp3 for audio (Rockchip-based players)
-lavcopts abitrate=192 use your own audio bitrate with any preset profile
-oac copy do not reconvert audio, keep the original
-af volnorm=2:0.7 boost the volume if normalized audio is still too low
-ofps 25.000 manually set the framerate to 25 fps (or any other value)
-aid 02 use the second audio stream in a dual-language AVI (don't forget the leading 0 !)
-
xvidencopts bitrate=240 -lavcopts abitrate=128 use custom video and audio bitrates with Qx
-delay 0.550 corrects the skew of a source video (some .vob) if the sounds comes 550 ms too late
