BatMan - einfache Stapelverarbeitung für MEncoder

can you explain in english wich profile (Q1, Q2 etc.) i need for
- cartoons (family guy)
- tv shows
- (action) movies

Hi Micha, the latest version of BatMan contains short descriptions of each profile, check it out. Q2 is for cartoons, Q4 for action movies.
I will maybe update the screenshots today, because many things have changed.

ok one last question, when i convert it and it is 100% i get a file called pass1, wich works good. But then it starts over again and a second file is created :s
where is this for and wich one do i need?

that's 2-pass encoding technology the pass1.avi should be deleted automatically afterwards.
In the first pass, the program checks for compressability and distribution of action scenes, and the second pass creates the resulting video based on the statistics from pass1.

Habe grad eine einfache Lösung für nicht synchrone filme entdeckt:
-Film stoppen
-Film wieder starten
-zur Stelle spulen wo man stop gedrückt hat
-Schon ists wieder Synchron :D

so, ich habe heute nochmal ein bißchen an den Quality Presets rumgetüftelt und vor allem das Q5/High Quality noch ein bißchen verbessern können, vor allem den Sound. Habe damit gerade ein Konzert gerippt, das ist ein wahrer Augen- und Ohrenschmaus geworden.
Für alle Qualitätsenthusiasten da draußen.

Bei mir geht es mit den neuesten version nicht mehr!!

Ich schleppe ein .ifo auf das batman icon, wähle 4 den mein output directory, wáhle en er sagt dan writing xxx und dan passierts nichts mehr und das program hat sich selber abgeschlossen.. Siehe dan nur ein 0 byte file in meinem output directory..

es muß das VIDEO_TS.IFO sein, und zwar direkt von der DVD. Mit auf Festplatte gerippten Dateien geht das nicht (da gehen nur die VOB Files).

Das habe auch gemacht ! Zwar nicht direct von der dvd aber von ein gemounte iso aber das ist dasselbe ... Mit alle andere versionen von batman hat es funtioniert.

Is there any way to change the profiles? I personally would like medium to encode at 256 kbps for video, and 96 kbps for audio... I like working with numbers divisible by 16/4 whatever... just makes me feel better.

Hi Bandicoot. Ich habe an der Behandlung von DVDs nichts mehr geändert seit ich es released habe. Um sicher zu gehen, habe ich gerade zwei Tests durchgeführt :
1. Original DVD eingelegt ("Zucchero&Co"), VIDEO_TS.IFO auf BatMan gezogen), Q5, D:\Test, de, 1 ---> kein Problem
2. von der gleichen DVD mit CloneDVD ein Image gemacht, mit Daemon Tools gemountet, dann wie in 1. beschrieben weitergemacht ---> kein Problem

Es liegt also wahrscheinlich an deinem Image. Probier doch bitte mal ein paar andere original DVDs und ein paar andere Images.

Hier übrigens von mir nochmal ein guter Tip für alle, die Probleme beim Rippen von DVD haben : SmartRipper benutzen, Stream Processing aktivieren, nur den Videostream und einen Audiostream auswählen, unter Settings/File Splitting auf max-filesize und 9999 MB stellen und auf Platte rippen. Dann von dort das enstandene .vob file auf BatMan ziehen. So geht es zum einen viel schneller als direkt von DVD, zum anderen problemloser.

I am thinking about a "custom" profile in the next version for all you tweakers out there.

Ich hab es versucht mit mehrere images. Vieliecht muss ich mal meine temp files leeren , batman gut entferenen und dan wieder neuinstallieren .. Windows geht jas auch manchmal verruckt ohne anleitung..

Hab noch eine frage bzw versuch , jetzt kan kann ich en de oder fr wählen, is das im program/profil gesetzt oder kann ich auch andere sprachen wählen wenn die auf dem dvd stehen .. Hab nämlich jede menge dvd's im Holländischen sprache fur mein neun jährige sohn.. Wurde ganz nett wen ich auch Holländisch (ich glaube das ist auf dvd's angegeben mit du (dutch) wählen könnte, dan kann er ja im Auto auch mal ne film ansehen.

Oh noch eine frage, wenn ich den dvd schon auf meine platte habbe hass du gesagt das es nur geht mit vob files .. Geht der ordnung der vob files den richtig ?? Weil ja nicht immer der erste vob file der anfang von den film ist.

heute neue Version mit automatischer Indexreparatur. Damit sollte es keine unspulbaren Filme mehr geben, und wenn beim Rippen von DVD und Stream Processing der Index nicht sauber neu erzeugt wurde, holt BatMan dies jetzt automatisch nach.

I can work with just randomly drag the .avi file to the .exe. That works fine, but I still have some questions.

When I drag a .iso to the .exe it begins but when im starting to convert it doesn't show any time(left) nor mb. It makes a pass1 though. Is it even possible to use this method? Or do you have an other method to rip and movie from a original dvd (or image (.iso,.nrg etc.)) without getting the menu etc, just the movie itself.

I sometime use the .VOB files. How do I know which .VOB file to convert? Or it ain't possible to convert like that? Edit
I know that now I didn't saw it was mentioned in the program. But if it has a menu, what does it do? And subtitles?

Hi Vivanco,
some of your question have been already discussed in the German part of this thread .. sorry about that.
If you drag an ISO image to batman, it will assume that it contains a vcd or svcd and start converting without any other prompts.
If you want to get a movie from DVD to your Meizu there are 2 ways :

1. drag the VIDEO_TS.IFO from the DVD to BatMan. You can choose output folder, title number and language then. No subtitle support yet. (chapter selection is in working progress ..)
This method works also with "virtual" DVD drives, e.g. Daemon Tools. That way you can use your ISO images)

2. Rip the DVD down to harddisk, I recommend "SmartRipper" for that. Be sure that you use SmartRipper with the "Stream Processing" feature, select the desired video track and ONE audio track (deselect the others). Under Settings you must rip to ONE big .vob file using the 9999 MB file size option. When it has finished ripping, you just drag the resulting .vob file to BatMan.

Thanks for your reply, im kinda getting the hang of it. Cool that u can mount and use the .IFO files from there!

Some things just doesn't display correctly. I did the same on an .avi file and it worked correctely, but if I'm using a .IFO file, this is the process;



I hope you can look into it. And idea how long it will take to render a full 4.5gb movie? Still half an hour right now and its still at 1st pass.

this is a bug in MEncoder, no way I can fix that.

Depending on the used encryption method, your drive, your cpu and the condition of your DVD : between 3 hours (my record!) and bloody ages :D

BatMan's DVD Ripping support is still experimental. If you want it sophisticated, fast and reliable, use SmartRipper and then BatMan.
