ich benutze die Q4 codierung und die "stable version" die man sich auf der ersten seite runterladen kann.

Mir ist gestern in den Sinn gekommen batman nach Linux zu portieren. Dafür bräuchte ich allerdings die sources. Was hältst du davon? Muss mir die neuen sources nochmals anguggn und schauen, ob sich das einfach porten lässt. Schreib mir einfach mal ne eMail oder via ICQ falls du Interesse hast.

Ich hab's auch einmal angeboten, das antwort was aber nein. BatMan ist im batch geschrieben. Es ist vielleicht ganz einfacher ein Linux frontend neu zu programmieren.

Batman is an awesome program. I use it to convert my DVDs for my M6.

Any plans on making the code open-source?
BobbyQ, instead of taking all the burden of fixing bugs and stuff, why not make it open source so we can all help?

I'm a veteran programmer, so maybe I can assist?

It's very nice to see all you people offering your help. I really appreciate it. Every program has its own story as you might know, and the story of this one is told in a minute.
There was no converter that could satisfy my needs, so I took that script from flyingbobo and extended it so that it would be able to convert the stuff you throw at it in a batch. When I saw that it worked, I tried different mencoder parameters for different qualities, so I didn't have to modify the script everytime. So I ended up with 6 almost identical scripts.
That was the time when oCfuu suggested to merge those scripts in a menu, so we threw it together into one file.
If by that time anyone of you would have offered your help in an open-source project, I certainly would have agreed, because not really much was done by that point apart from a couple of days of trying, writing some lines, guessing and trying again.
But since nobody asked, and I didn't expect the program to grow as big as it is today, I spent week over week adding features and ideas. I could afford to do this because a sickness kept me at home all the while (in fact I am not yet fully restored). If at any time I would have expected any more people to care for BatMan and its development, I would have considered to switch it to open-source.
But now, well. It's a huge monstrosity of "spaghetti code", with so many patches and tricks I can't even tell. Maybe I should not tell that I have studied software engineering actually .. but it's true. I only never saw BatMan as a software project, it was just to convert my videos you know ;-)
And so I couldn't stop. Right now the whole thing is at a point where I have spent months of personal work on it, and the code is so ... personalized .. that you will find it easier to redo it from scratch.
Other than that, this program already does what it should do and I don't think that a GUI would be that much of an advantage - at least not for the effort of doing it all from scratch.
I think you underestimate the work that would have to be done to do it all again based on the BatMan script, and you overestimate the benefits. There are lots of other projects which generally solve the "let's convert X to Y" better than BatMan I think. Maybe your powers would pay off better in those projects, or a new one. I declare this program as finished. Eventually I don't plan to implement any more features - in fact I think that the most important ones are already to our service.

If you want to start a new project, I will see what I can do to support you. Only now I have to care more for my real life than playing around with video players ;-) I hope you understand that.

You mean they do a better job than Batman, just that they aren't optimized for converting to a Meizu M6, or is configuration easy ?

Although i prefer a gui, i agree with what you said if you believe that the code is too far into a sphagetti state that it would save a shitload starting a new project instead.

no, to be honest I absolutely like my own creation and I am using it every day :-) it is only not appropriate for help from outside anymore.
Another project that might be interesting to spend development energy on is MediaCoder. It didn't work for me yet, but it has some promising ideas to offer. Maybe it is you who would contribute the right energy to make it actually the holy grail of video conversion.

Mal ne ganz dumme Frage, wie kann ich ein avi aus dem Explorer auf ein Desktop Icon (Verknüpfung) ziehen? Det geht bei mir nicht! Batman öffnet sich nicht, egal ob linke, rechte Taste halten mit Shift, Alt oder STRG...es wird höchstens eine Kopie/Verknüpfung des Videos auf dem Desktop angelegt aber nicht in Batman geöffnet.

Schau dir einfach den Screenshot auf Seite 1 dieses Beitrags genau an. Um eine Datei von einem Ort zum anderen zu ziehen ("Drag and Drop") mußt du die linke Maustaste gedrückt halten und dann loslassen.

Ich weiß nicht, was es dort "genauer" zu sehen gibt oder ich bin blind. Es funktioniert einfach standardmäßig nicht, ein avi (oder sonst eine Datei) per drag&drop auf das Batman Desktop Icon zu ziehen. (XP nicht Vista)

Per Kontextmenü/rechte Maustaste auf das avi und öffnen mit geht natürlich aber D&D is nich.

es könnte sein, daß dein Benutzerkonto nicht über ausreichende Rechte verfügt, aber das Betriebssystem keine entsprechende Meldung macht (evtl. verkurbelt). Das kannst du am schnellsten überprüfen indem du dich mal als Administrator anmeldest.
Unter Vista kann man sowas auch pro Programm einstellen.

- glaub mir es liegt weder am Programm noch an XP, diese Kombination ist vielfach getestet
- ein Benutzerkonto mit Adminrechten ist nicht das selbe wie das Konto "Administrator" .. wir hatten so ein Problem hier schon ein paarmal durchgekaut, und immer waren es verkurbelte Rechte

EDIT : wenn es mit "öffnen mit .." funktioniert, aber mit drag+drop nicht, dann hast du dir wohl was an deinem Windows verkurbelt. Probier es doch einfach zum Vergleich mal auf einem beliebigen anderen XP Rechner, dann wirst du sehen, daß es funktioniert.

Bei mir hört man bei dem Video,das umgewandelt wurde keinen Ton. Kann mir mal jemand helfen? Da steht "Failed to created DMO-Filter" "Error: Could not open required DirectShow codec wmv9dmod.dll". Hat es vielleicht damit etwas zu tun?

Hallo Hajo. Also meine selbstgedrehten Urlaubsvideos, die ich mit Kopierschutzmaßnahmen versehen habe, gingen alle ;-)
Wenn's bei deiner DVD nicht direkt geht, dann probier doch mal einen der gängigen Ripper, z.B. SmartRipper.
Ich weise an dieser Stelle nochmals darauf hin, daß das Umgehen technischer Kopierschutzmaßnahmen von urheberrechtlich geschütztem Material in Deutschland verboten ist. Die hier angebotene Software nutzt Bibliotheken des frei erhältlichen MEncoder, welches libdvdcss enthält, das in Deutschland nur für private Zwecke verwendet werden darf.

@anarchist und Netrix : wie wäre es denn mal mit einem Feedback ?
