Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsBobbyQ, I took a file I had (that was corrupt a bit in the beginning), and converted it, and the subtitles are off by a few seconds.
They were lined up fine with my batch file I used (mentioned earlier). This file was fixed using your repair function, so I'm not sure what exactly happened.
If you'd like, later on this evening, I can upload the 700 meg file and accompanying srt subtitle file to my site, and you can play with it.

Hi jmel, I know about this problem, and I must say that it is not easily solvable for BatMan. At the time the movie gets repaired, it is impossible to predict how much data crap will exactly be cut off. I have set the subtitle delay so that it assumes -2.6 seconds, but that is just a wild guess, resulting from my tests.
Only way to fix this would be to make the subtitle delay customizable, so you can fix it yourself. But this is a very special function, repair with subtitles. I don't know yet when I can program that.
Of course it would be best to have a clean video without crap :-) fixing is a difficult matter.BatMan, the free video converter for Meizu players. Problems ? English First Aid here. Deutsche Erste Hilfe hier.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsWell, my solution that I used for my batch file, was to actually chop a preset amount of time off. I used the -ss command for mencoder to start the encoding 2-5 seconds into the video. For some sources, this is fine, because you are not dumping any useful video data this way, obviously for others it matters. It still managed to keep the subtitles in the right spot, because it chops from them as well.
Just thought I'd mention that its another alternative, not sure if or how you'd implement it. Maybe "repair2" as a special function? or "chop?" and then have a number for how many seconds to remove at the beginning?
I've only run into these issues with downloaded videos, and obviously the ripper that made them didnt care because they played fine in windows or linux or whatever.
I also noticed lip sync issues when I watched a movie all the way through, and had not noticed these before. I seemed to be able to ffw/rew for a few secs and it fixed it temporarily, but I dont know if its from batman, or from the meizu. I've heard of people having those issues as well before, but I don't recall having them ever myself. In my batch file, I think I used a very constant interleave that made sync issues go away, or be lessened. I'll test later tonight with my batch file and batman to see if there was in fact a difference. Just takes a while to watch a whole movie, as thats the only way i see it, is by letting it go for 20 mins or so.Last edited by jmel; 07-11-2007 at 05:49 PM.

Hi jmel,
your -ss method (it's hard to actually use a formulation like that for a German .. if you ever took German history) is already in BatMan but it is not exact enough with all* movie formats, I have tried this and all other available options like byte seeking for a while and came to the conclusion that the method I use now is the best. If you can make a better one, you're welcome to contribute it. But like I mentioned before, "repairing" videos is not easy and delaying subtitles is not easy either.
If BatMan can transcode 95% of the mutliple videos out there I am perfectly happy, and if BatMan can repair 95% of the rest I am even more happy. And if the remaining 0.25% use subtitles and are a bit offsync, well you guess what I want to say. As long as you don't have a better idea, I will proceed to add manual override for the subtitle delay, so everybody can make his own subtitle syncing in a 2-step procedure. Once to check, once to fix.
Another possibility would be different repair modes, but I would have to do a lot of testing before. And my first goal is still to keep it easy and effective. I would say that the majority of people watches movies without subtitles, and won't notice your problem at all.
* you must check for avi, mpeg1-2, wmv, asf and mp4 the LEAST because many people use that. You will notice that you tell mencoder to skip 2 seconds, and instead land at 3 or even 4 or only 0.5Last edited by BobbyQ; 07-11-2007 at 06:14 PM.

- "transfer" - when asked for a path that is not accessible over and over, you can now quit with "q" or see the help with "?", and come to the main menu afterwards, so you can choose options again.

I have not seen a movie for longer than 20 minutes either for a couple of weeks, so I did not test. Fast forwarding keeps BatMan's video still sync, that's for sure. But constantly playing has yet to be tested.
Help appreciated since I don't have the time to watch movies right now ..BatMan, the free video converter for Meizu players. Problems ? English First Aid here. Deutsche Erste Hilfe hier.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI had read about some more repetitive interleaving options, and didnt know if that would help. Someone had mentioned it in another mencoder thread.

Hallo Bobby Q,

Man könnte da theoretisch noch was dran drehen, ja. Aber damit wären so einige Tests verbunden, also aufwendig.
BatMan, the free video converter for Meizu players. Problems ? English First Aid here. Deutsche Erste Hilfe hier.

)

I examined that question carefully and came to the conclusion that it is difficult but not impossible. FLV (Flash Video) can be converted with BatMan out of the box. SWF is Shockwave Flash that is another container that can contain a flv-movie, mp3 sound, texts, shapes, pictures, controls. And that is the problem. The testfile you sent me contains no movie :
Objects in file "What is Tribox.swf":
[-i] 10 Shapes: ID(s) 1, 3, 8, 13, 18, 23, 28, 33, 38, 43
[-p] 37 PNGs: ID(s) 2, 4-7, 9-12, 14-17, 19-22, 24-27, 29-32, 34-37, 39-42, 44-47
[-f] 1 Frame: ID(s) 0
[-m] 1 MP3 Soundstream
no movie here. Still there are ways to make a movie out that PNG pictures, like the free swf2avi, but that is complicated and I see no simple way to make that a reality. If you can find a command line tool that is able to do that at a glance, you should try it out and tell me about it. Until then, I see no solution. If you really really want that movies on your Meizu, you can play them with your Media Player and record the output with Camtasia or similiar recording software.BatMan, the free video converter for Meizu players.

NEW :
- nonormalize : turns volume normalization off
- volume : gains -20 to 20 dB (applied after any normalization)
info : BatMan's normalization not only adjusts the overall volume to an average level but also applies a de-dynamic. If you don't want any de-dynamic, use "nonormalize".Last edited by BobbyQ; 07-11-2007 at 09:38 PM.

Code:attrib -A /S
Last edited by BobbyQ; 07-12-2007 at 08:20 AM.
