    Playlist editing for M8

    Dear Meizu users,

I recently received my own M8, but have come across some unexpected issues with regards to the management of playlists.

I've been using the M6 Miniplayer for some time and have been very happy with its performance. I have used Winamp to manage, edit and create playlists on the device from my pc.

Regarding the M8, it seems that all the playlists I've generated and would like to continue using cannot be transferred to the M8, as it cannot read .m3u playlists, if I'm correct.

Does anyone know 1) either how to convert .m3u playlists created in Winamp to .asx, or 2) of any other equivalent software that creates .asx playlists?

Since I can't even find out how to change the track order in playlists created directly on the M8 (my manual's in Chinese, might be lots of stuff I'm missing out on), that option seems closed as well..

Anyone with some good tips? Desperate for help, as the main purpose of my purchasing the M8 (to avoid carrying both phone and mp3 player around) would remain rather unfulfilled.. :-)

    Thankful for any information.

Why not just create a play list(s) on the phone. Put your music in a folder on the m8 then move things to the play list under
    disk/music/playlist.

First off, the M8 does support M3U-files. You just have to edit the path of the files in your M3U-file with word or something like that. When the playlist file is created, it shows the whole path to the song from root to the file.
    "Disk\Music\<Artist>\<Music File>"
But what I have done is to edit the path to all of them into:
    "..\<Artist>\<Music File>"
Somehow it works then. It's pretty easy to do in Microsoft Word if you open the M3U file there
I use MediaMonkey to manage all my music, but I've been told that it operates very much the same way as Winamp does. So you might be able to do the same!

I would also love to be able to convert M3U files into ASX files, because the M8 knows how to edit the ASX. So then you could add or remove songs from the playlist "on-the-move"

    Dear JaffZe,

can't begin to thank you enough! This way I can keep all of my library and all my playlists and manage them as I have until now - will save me enormous amounts of time and trouble, wonderful! (and it'll help me stave off criticism from friends who still don't understand why I've dumped everything that begins with a small "i"..)

    Again, many thanks.

    Best/Magnus

No problem, always glad to help a mate (m8)

Well, products that begins with a small "i" does seem to have great quality and the software is almost perfect, but they are always locked to a certain program and all that But products with a big "Z" in the middle of the name (MeiZu ) got great quality too, but the software is far from great, it's more like barely OK.

Anyways, if anyone could find a program to convert M3U files to ASX i would be REALLY happy!

PS: When you add a playlist (M3U, not ASX) with a song, the M8 believes that you have two of that song in your music library. And if you have that song in more than one playlist, it seems to believe that there are many duplicates of that song in your library Not something to worry about, just a little annoying!

PPS: Everytime you synchronize your playlists with the computer, you'll have to edit the playlist files with Word again ...

    Timsomor,

thanks for your tip! The thing is, I don't know if I'm a proper dunce, but I can't even figure out how to rearrange the order of the songs within the list if I create it this way.. Is it possible?

Yes, I suppose the i-bunch are more user-friendly, but then in some ways one likes to tweak around a bit.. And from my experience with the M6, I got to really liking the superior sound-quality and the fact that one wasn't bound to the i-software that repeatedly got me so irritated.. Will keep hunting for that m3u-asx converter too!

On the PPS, I noticed that the hard way already.. But from now on I'll create a mirror-library on my pc and just replace it after refreshing the M8- library.

The thing is, I got to thinking that if one could change the default playlist library path into a root folder, one wouldn't have to do the "\Music" to "..\" change. So I changed the default playlist library to a root folder called Playlist with Sprite, saved the changes, moved the lists there, but at the end of it all - despite the fact that it clearly recognised that I had changed the default folder - the music player couldn't even find the playlists.. Don't know why. It would have saved a bit of trouble.

    Anyway. Thanks again!
