Exclamation GPRS and MMS Settings in Australia?

    Hello forum members,

Firstly i would like to say a HUGE thankyou to meizume.com for this amazing forum where Meizu owners around the world can come and give advice to this amazing product.. Congratulations guys keep up the good work!!

I am a proud Meizu M6 for 2 years now, and i wouldnt change it for the world, i am very happy with this product and cant live without it..

3 months ago i purchased the Meizu M8, and this forum has helped me 10000% with execellant support, service, games, applications + many more..

BUT... one problem i have been trying to fix for 3 months now, is getting the GPRS and MMS to work.. I have tried everything stated in this forum - but still its not working..

I have contacted my service provider ( VODAFONE ), and they cannot help me at all..

I have taken my Meizu M8 to six different mobile phone shops, and they cannot get the GPRS and MMS to work either..

I have spend tireless nights, many hours, lots of applications and still no outcome..

I urge for support by meizu me members to please, please help me regarding this matter as its been eating me away..

I am in Australia, and my carrier is VODAFONE..

Below are my settings i have put:
In SETTINGS, GPRS and INTERNATIONAL option is selected.
CALL FIRST setting is NOT selected..

    VF MMS settings:
    NAME: VF MMS
    APN: live.vodafone.com
USER NAME: ( Is Blank )
    PASSWORD: ( Is Blank )
    PROXY SERVER: 010.202.002.060
    PORT: 8080
    SERVER: (http://pxtsend.vodafone.net.au/pxtsend)

    VF LIVE settings:
    NAME: VF LIVE
    APN: vfinternet.au
USER NAME: ( Is Blank )
    PASSWORD: ( Is Blank )
    PROXY SERVER: 010.202.002.060
    PORT: 8080
    SERVER: (http://live.vodafone.com)

In MESSAGES settings i have selected VF MMS as the APN.

Please forgive me forum as i know there are many many posts regarding this same situation, but after 3 months of trying i cannot get this to work, and i know there are many many other forum members out there that still have the same problem..

I have also used M8 SPRITE version 1.3.3 and added .ini in the TXTFILE association..
I have gone into DOCUMENTS, then USERCONNECTNODE and changed the ISSELECT=0 to ISSELECT=1 for the VF LIVE settings..

    Sorry, and please help !!

    I am using 0.9.3.6 FW

    Kind Regards,

    Global Bargains

Hi! I am from Romania, Easter Europe and i use Vodafone as my carrier as well as you do. I will try to tell you how i set up my Mobile Internet connection by GPRS and you may adapt my advices to your needs. So first off al i have 0.9.2.7 firmware.
    1. Enter in Settings, then GPRS, then press New to add a new profile.
    2. The settings for my carrier are: ( but i think that you have obtain something similar from your carrier consultants)
    Name: Mobile Internet
    APN: internet.vodafone.ro
    User Name: internet.vodafone.ro
    Password:
    Proxy server:
    Port:
    Server:
    3. After you Save current profile go back in GPRS menu where you will see the new profile you have just created, named Mobile Internet.
    4. Click on the left side of profile name and it should be checked with a blue round selector. It mean that from now on for gprs you will use profile Mobile Internet.
If the phone try to set on this profile but it didn't succed for more than 10 second and the phone make a circle in the middle of the display (the sign that it is "thinking") so..it means that you have to go to windows/UsrConnectNode.ini file and then edit. To edit that file you have to go to M8Sprite, then choose Association, double click on "txtfile" and type "ini" in the upper part of display then..press Enter from the keyboard because if you didn't do that it will not wotk. So, after you pres enter, will apear a list of extension that will use txt editor for them.If "ini" is in the list then you are ready to edit ini files. In fact you should do this operation first and then go to UsrConnectNode.ini and click on it and then click on the icon from the right (4 dots) and then press Edit and click after "IsSelect=0" and change to "IsSelect=1" then save and go to Setting again, GPRS and click on Mobile Internet profile and now it should stay selected.
You have to had activated internet mobile on your sim by contacting vodafone consultants and activate it. I have an extraoption of 2 euros for 10 Mb traffic.
I created another profile called MMS by clicking New in the same menu GPRS and the setting are:
    Name: MMS
    APN: mms.vodafone.ro
    User Name: mms
    Password: vodafone
    Proxy server: 193.230.161.231
    Port: 8080
    Server: http://multimedia/servlets/mms

but these could differ from yours but i am sure that you will make an analogy and figure out what you should change.
This profile MMS i didn't test it but Mobile Internet it works for me.
    Good Luck!

i came again with an issue: Mobile Internet is not the same with Vodafone Live!!! Get the APN settings for Mobile Internet from vodafone consultants, not for Live! because Live it's a portal only for certain internet pages not for whole internet.

thanks cri_sor2002 for the in depth reply i truly appriciate your time writing the above post, but i contacted vodafone once again, and they just gave me the same exact settings as i mentioned above..

When i had 0.9.2.7 firmware when i first bought meizu m8, i still had the same problem.. i thought by upgrading to 0.9.3.6 FW this problem would be resolved - obviously NOT !!

Im at wits end, as i said, i have tried for nearly 3 months day by day to resolve this problem and still NOTHING!!

Ive also tried from the vodafone website to send the settings to my meizu but yet they dont work..

Is there another brand / model of another mobile phone that uses Windows CE 6.0 that is listed on the vodafone website ?? - maybe if its possible to send those settings for that particular model to my meizu m8..

    Regards

Hi..again! I am sorry that your gprs didn't work. My advice to you is to write on the paper what Meizu M8 ask you when you compose a new profile and call back a consultant and ask him exactly what you need to enter in your phone; ex. you tell him: Name of profile...APN Name...User Name...Password because they have many settings different from phone to phone. They send me settings for HTC TnTy II, for CECT T689 i think, and iPhone 3g but none of them was completly right. So i ask exactly what my phone need in menu and they told me on the phone. At first it didn't work but when i modified usrconnectnode.ini then it was ok. You have to restart your phone after you save the gprs profile.
    Good luck!

Hi, globalbargains! You said that "mms is still not working"! Should i understand that internet mobile works? I didn't try MMS on my phone, just made settings. But Internet through gprs works fine. I made some other settings in registry but as i said i have never tried to sent or receive a MMS. So, in HKLM/Software/Meizu/SMS apear some keys like: GPRSConnect, GPRSUser, GPRSPassword, APName, ..that are still set to cmwap. I saw on Rori post that he modified that keys with data from mms profile and seems that it work for him. Maybe your setting are good but the phone take the one from registry and ..maybe if you change registry too, maybe it will work. Good luck!
