Give me a reason to keep my M8!

I know that I am only very new to this forum and would firstly like to say how how well run and professional it is.

The reason for this post is to try to understand WHY my M8 is so much less then what i thought it would be. When searching for a new phone over a year ago i stumbled onto the M8 when looking at alternatives to the iphone.

I am not a programer and don't know all that much about the hardware either of the M8 but i cannot understand why the phone lacks so much.

Researching for over a year i decided to finally buy a new phone. When i heard that the M8 was being released i was stoked. I thought that this would definatley be a great rival to the iphone. Unfortunatley i was mistaken.

On paper the M8 looks great. When it finally arived i assumed that it would run quiet smoothly and before long I began to have troubles with it. I brought the phone because of its abilities to read a number of music/picture files. But it cannot send MMS.

I also cannot believe that a company would release a phone with not even one stable firmware. Each one is still riddled with bugs that it is a joke. I could ramble on with many of the cons of this phone but would rather not.

If someone on this great forum could give me some reasons why not to just sell it and buy another phone they would be greatly appreciated.

If you don´t like the M8, buy an Iphone, or Android Phone..
I do not think, that it´s the task of this forum to convince people to buy, or keep their M8´s...

Yes, i give to you some options.

Buy a Iphone
And pay 2 times more for the price of 1 meizu m8

Buy a Iphone.
And pay for a little stupid program xD

Buy a Iphone
And tell me what is the difference?

Guys, its a cellphone, note a console game, or a computer.

Im like you, excited to want a meizu, when he comes, was not what im thinking he is.

LG Arena is the same price and is much better then M8, but i bought a Meizu, not for what he do, but here, in Azores, no one have/know what is meizu, so no one have a cellphone like me =) but he can send sms and make calls, play some games and listen music with a GREAT SOUND QUALITY :D

It is a phone developing day by day.
Since the 1.0 Firmware has not been released yet, i wouldn't buy it now if i was a 'regular' user.(by regular i mean somebody who just wants a phone that works and is not interested in modifying the phone)

Overall it is a good phone, but the basic functions really need to get better, i have no problem with calling, but i do with receiving a sms and with mms.

Well it depend of what you want. I agree with you, I was thinking the same thing. The fact is this phone can do a lot of things but it is in constant development.
I don't know if it will completely work one day. But don't forget that it is the FIRST phone from Meizu and at the beginning it was for China only. Now they try to add more languages (french for example).
I bet on the future.

I am no longer buying a M8 now. Don't get a G1 BTW I have one currenlty and three letters. El Ay Gee. MyTouch 3G looks promising.

M8 has a better display than iPhone. I really like having the MS OS instead of the MAC stuff. I'm not interested in purchasing a MAC computer. My M8 synchs with Outlook. I'm very happy with my M8 since the 0.9.2.7 firmware came out. It fixed a lot of issues I was experiencing with the phone. Music videos work great now. Music downloads are easy to synch, camera works well, video recorder works well and can be watched on my computer. The only issue I'm concerned about is he browser. I want to be able to watch videos with the browser. I'm sure that is coming soon.

I second that. I am a happy Meizu M8 user since day one.

lol, video recorder doesnt work well. Often the sound and the vid are not synchron. Thats REALLY annoying... (video quality is good)

I agree, the camera s*cks, reaction times are very bad when you are in the dark and indeed the video and audio are out of sync.
They really need to fix such a big bug!
If you are in the bright daylight, then photo's are good and but still audio and video are out of sync, indeed REALLY annoying....

I just hope for android, day by day i prey

Only problem to me its KEYBOARD :@ GPRS/MMS =( and of course, browser without flash.

But this is the problems of almost here LOL

Video not out of synch but it does appear jerky. I agree that this needs to be fixed and is probably firmware related.

my friend i have an lg arena, and it is NOT!! better by any means! it is slower clumsier does not have all these great apps the screen is smaller etc. etc.
i have no idea what everyone is talking about! i LOVE my m8. it is the best phone i have ever owned! and i have had more then 200 phoens, including the "beloved" to heavy to big no bluetooth transfer stuck with itunes no video camera iphone!

LG Arena < Meizu M8.
LG Arena is veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery slow (and I don't like LG Arena's screen, interface...)

even if the LG is slow...the ui of M8 compared to this is ridiculous...nice animations and ideas...like someone else said before...we have nothing...

pls pls tell me what is better in lg i beg u. i had it for 28 days and gave it to my 13 yr old teenager. for her its a good phone! other then that in which way is the lg better?! when making a call if u need to go to contacts or go to phone book u need to press that stupid press hold to unlock, then u go to contacts then u need to press it again (which makes no sense! as it has the ambient sensor so it shuts off the screen when next to ur ear so y have this feature?!) , and it is so sloooooooow! plus sound from the speaker is not close to the m8 dual stereo speakers for music! the screen is much! smaller!
the browser's zoom is max. 250% and keeps making a ding sound as to tell u u r not doing something right! one of the most unsensetive screens for internet i have ever used! when u need to press a link like search or go u need to zoom it and then press between 5-10 times until it gets it! the reception on the arena is bad at least for canada. no way to talk in a basement or in an elevator! with ,my meizu i can talk on elevators and in parking lots! u need to wait between songs when listening to music on mp3 player 10 seconds!! each time a song switches! u can not add apps! and dont get me started! there is no way the lg arena compares to the m8 accept maybe for the fact its a touch screen! actually that is not true, the pixel resolution is better on the arena but the screen is so small it makes no difference. so pls it is ur turn to pls! tell me what is better in the arena! pls!

I love my m8.
From the first day on. I love the possibilies it brings. I love the display i love the UI.
Best phone for me.

But: Im interested in techniques behind things, i am a software engeneer, i like tinkering around, write programms and stuff.
And i think this is what you need to be to own and love a m8 Its not a phone for everyone, especially not for the most people who want to switch a phone on and off and thats it.
But it will be if we have eneugh programs and a stable FW.

Im not saying "wäähh we have nothing, no one likes us so no m8 software" because of the great windows ce os, i just can write my own programs if i need one.

Thats it I like to play around, fight with the bootloader, bring android to the m8, write programs.
Its like Linux users would like the m8, mac user would hate the m8 and windows users are split 50/50

BTW. my m8 never crashs, i can call i can recieve and write sms, i never use mms (wtf uses mms?) i can surf and chat watch videos and pics. I really like it. As said before

I really think the M8 is an excellent phone. Compared to iphone it has way superior resolution AND Bluetooth. The sound quality is excellent and, despite all the complaining about FW.. I really think that its a tribute to a company's first try at a smartphone.
If ur the type of person who wants a phone that u cant do much with but has tonnes of widgets to cram up ur screen... get an iphone. If u like tweaking around the phone and something to customize, the M8 is a little gem.
I have no issues with calling or messages and find the phone UI really nice... not overcrowded and very responsive. Just get a FW that works best with you and stick with it. I use it primarily for video and music as well as a phone. Its sleek and feels good to use.
Best of all, you can import direct through a USB connection without having to use itunes.
I know I sound like a fanboy, but for a good priced phone.... it delivers fantasticly.
