    M8 Contacts and Country Code

    Hi everyone!

I have a relatively big problem with my M8 and was wondering if anyone knows how to fix it.

My contacts are stored in my phone without the country code, for example.

A mobile phone number will be stored in the Australian format of "04XXXXXXXX", although when I receive a text message or a call it will register the number with the country code, example: "+614XXXXXXXX".

Is there a way to make it automatically replace the +614 with 04 so when I receive a text message or call it will find the appropriate contact name instead of an unknown number.

The annoying solution would be to replace all my contacts from 04 to +614 but that's a real pain especially when adding new contacts :/

    Thanks in advance.

This is a very well-known problem with the m8 and it hasnt been fixed yet.
    Sorry.
Just bear with it for the time being and wait for Meizu to finally make a firmware that's actually stable for once. (gonna take millenia!)

Edit: Sorry forgot there IS a way, but it's kinda complicated so I couldn't be bothered to do it.
Go search around and you should find it...

Well complicated things are not a problem for me :P As long as there is a way to get it working i'm happy.

I found this thread, although from what I can tell changing the registry entry didn't affect anything with the contact list:

So does anyone have any more information on "the complicated way" since the listed registry fix didn't work and also editing contacts is not exactly an acceptable solution. I searched for ages and found nothing :/

I wouldn't say it's complicated just time consuming. Did wish meizu did fixed this problem in a FW release but no.

a.t.m. you can't get around not editing your numbers. The easiest way i find to do this is via microsoft outlook on your pc or laptop cause if you do it using your phone it'll take forever.

Sync your phone to pc / laptop using active sync or window mobile device centre.

Then open your contacts in outlook and you can do one of two things

1/ store 2 numbers as follows
04xxxxxxxx which is for incoming calls and +614xxxxxxxx which is for incoming SMS or

2/ store 1 number like this +61 (4) xxxxxxxx and this will accept both incoming calls and texts from the one number.

    Choice is yours have fun

just so it's clear say if you were saving a cell lets just say number is 045 xxxxxxxx it would be +61 (45) xxxxxx and make sure you put spaces before and after the brackets
