To start with i wasnt too keen on android, i was loyal to the meizu os which had a future if designed properly. now im still not fully convinced, but this article about the htc hero with the new android makes android look very good indeed.

Thanked 10 Times in 7 PostsVery nice UI. I think that a good-looking android firmware is what we really need now for the m8.

Thanked 5 Times in 4 Poststhe HTC Hero looks like garbage, sluggish and slow and the hardware is not too far off from the M8. but android looks pretty good i guess. I'm disappointed in the m8, But i would say that the hero might be a better choice if it came down to choosing one (just because of android). I would never have bought the m8 if I would have experienced the phone before hand.
As for android, not the best I've seen but pretty good.Last edited by Davidko; 09-20-2009 at 09:28 PM.

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsYes, of course its laggy, but don't blame android for being laggy, its HTCs fault because of all the widgets running.

Well, I think the Sense Ui interface is the best looking of all the incarnations of Andorid. HTC's has really thought hard about the customisations and I think it is one of the best looking phone Ui's around. Not to mention the fact HTC also managed to implement multitouch, flash support and other unique features.
However.....as you mention when it was first released it got critricised a lot for it's sluggish Ui and weak performance. This was mainly due to the fact that the HTC customisations/widget screens and extra functionality means more processes are running on the device at any one time. Not to mention the decidely average 528mhz Qualcomm cpu that almost all android cell phones to date have used. I was also initially dissapointed by the poor performance and weak cpu not to mention the lack of any decent res video capture.
But....recently HTC have annnounced a new firmware update that apparently has significantly improved the sluggishness of the Ui making it very much more useable.
The thing is I don't think the hero is really what is most exciting about what HTC are doing. It's more the Ui itself. Once they get a solid next gen cpu in a device like a cortex A8 or snapdragon with sense ui and some large screen realestate that is when things will really get interesting. It is only now we are starting to see android being used with next gen CPU's like in the Archos 5 MID and eventually the creative Zii. Sony ericsson are also rumoured to be preparing an android device using the 1ghz snapdragon cpu, and a 4 inch screen called the X3. Not to mention Chinese company Ramos rumoured to be announcing a 1080p based android MID next week, although this is unlikely to challenge the cortex A8 or snapdragon on performance alone.
Nevertheless andorid is definitely becoming a very tempting prospect, considering it's versatility and customisability. HTC are already well on their way to stamping their mark on it and and will surely be bringing some even more compeling android based devices to market. This is really just the start...Last edited by sere83; 09-21-2009 at 01:15 AM.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsIndeed,
and do not forget the age of Android, how old is it : 1 year going on his second lifeyear?
More and more developpers, hardware builders and end-users are beginning to show interest in android that means that its performance and looks will change more rapidly in the coming months/years..
And about the performance you will need to keep in mind that android is build from scrap, this to support as many devices as possible.
(look at it like ms windows it is supported on practical all hardware)
This makes also a hughe difference in performance.
If for example you build an os for 1 hardware device (think on iphone) it is very logic that this will run flawless.
Android is possible the future for most cellphones, so it will only get better.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsToday any software can have such remote tool.
so there is no worry about that.
If you want to be secure you do not go online, and if you are in panic
you can allways search through the kernel to see if there is such backdoor.
and if the feds are following you try modding it yourself

Disabling your cell phone’s mic for security
posted Sep 14th 2009 7:48am by Caleb Kraft
filed under: cellphones hacks, security hacks

[Dan] set up this simple cell phone hack to disable his microphone when he’s not using his cell phone. He had read that the government can listen to you using your cell phone, even when it is off. This concerned him enough to hack into his phone. He removed the expansion port and wired the microphone to a magnetic reed switch. A strong magnet located in the screen side of his flip phone opens the circuit when he closes the phone. He notes that you could always just pop the battery out of your phone, but then you are left completely disconnected. This mod allows you to still receive phone calls.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsKirash, i made a promise to you,
trying to collect it now.
please try this on the android test build to see if it works.
i think it is very logic how to install it,but can not promise if it works, since it will be programmed on lower screen resolutions (but never know..)
