Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostGuide on exactly how to edit contacts for caller id
Now that I've finally upgraded to the latest firmware and STLL don't have the sms/caller id bug fixed, can someone post up exactly how to edit the contact list?
I'm just not sure where in the phone or what program to use.
I just want to edit them on the phone one by one as I need to.
Step by step if possible.
Thanks in advance guys!

Thanked 67 Times in 32 PostsYes, this bug sucks xD
You can "fix" it doing the next steps:
Go to the contact that you want to edit.

Add the phone number with the country code.

It's a very boring task...I only done that with my favorite friends and my family xD

Thanked 50 Times in 30 PostsThanks for the manual! Do I have to put the number like this ++41, or can I use 0041 instead?

Thanked 67 Times in 32 PostsI think that the best way to do it it's save the number exactly with the same format that appear when you receive any SMS

Does it? It didn't work for me like that.
For me to get full Caller ID SMS & calls I needed to have two numbers saved under each contact i.e
+6421212121 & 021212121
The number with the country code (+64) is for SMS and without is for calls. Don't ask me why it is like that but it is. Hopefully changed in 1.0 FW
Easiest way I found to do this is via Microsoft Outlook on your PC. Please be careful though as someone wrote in a post in the past that when they add a number with the country code into outlook it will automatically add a space in the number after you save it ie +64 21212121 which will not come up in the caller id on the m8 so make sure there is no gaps in the number if this happens to you. Didn't happen to me and I use office 07
Good luck... Sorry I don't know of an easier way to over come this.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostAnother solution is to do this from the SMS Center(where you find your sms). This solution does however require that you know who sent the sms even when no name is displayed.
As this is a problem for you, you probably already have got a lot of messages without a name, and only a number. If you know the name of the person who sent you a particular message, you can just add that number to an existing contact. I just used this method to "clean up" all the messages I had with "unknown" numbers.
1. Go to the SMS log of a particular number
2. Push the gray square at the top of the message log where the number is displayed
3. press the icon in the top right corner
4. press "Add to Exi.." (middle button at the bottom)
5. Choose the contact, and voila!
