Thanked 10 Times in 7 PostsBackup after firmware upgrade
Hello, yesterday I upgraded the firmware to 9.2.6, and I had to make a backup of files. Ok, nothing was so important, the only thing I wanted to save was the contact list, so I made a copy of Documents and Settings directory into the Disk. After the upgrade I tried to copy the old files into the new directory but when I restarted I had no contacts and everything in chinese, so I think I had to make vcards or copy the contacts to the sim

Anyway... can I do something now with those files to recover the contacts?
Thank you very much
ps: Contact groups still in chinese... STILL
(and that's not a problem of chinese-international market, is a problem of mix on languages!)
pps: If Firmware upgrade delete all config files why dont it automatically backup files into the Disk e copy them back after upgrade?

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsKirash,
if i use backup function in config menu it copies everything correct for me.
So as far i understand you reveresed a manual backup after upgrade,
now did you go to your contacts and scrolled down in the tabs to see if it did not duplicate tabs?
Btw those tab names can be edited ...
and making a backup you will need to do by using the backup menu.

Thanked 10 Times in 7 PostsArgh, I even not thinked about a backup function, strange that I didnt see it before. I've made a manual backup.
About my problem, I've made an error in the title. What I wanted to do was a backup, then the upgrade, then reverse the manual backup, just copying the old files in the old directory Documents and Settings (where there are the contacts files, I suppose) into the new one. But this didnt work! So I asked: How to do a manual backup?

Thanked 9 Times in 5 PostsThere should be threads about how to do backup already. Try doing a search.
Go to Settings - System - Data Backup - "Backup". After that you get a backup file with date of backup.
To restore, go to the data backup, and select backup date, it will lead you to restore, and you can select which to restore (contacts, call list, sms, calender, etc...)
You can copy the data backup file (disk - backup - (backup date) folder) onto your pc if you are afraid you might lose the files later.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 Poststilai, you are right, but..
Kirash wants to know now how to backup up by manually copy the items to pc and back to m8.
Kirash, beeing honest i have no idea which files you should need to copy.
Do not have my own m8 that long, maybe someone else can respond to this.

Thanked 10 Times in 7 PostsOk I got sms and call-list back, the same procedure doesnt work with the Contact and ContactGroup files (maybe I need a system file that I cant copy), so I've just lost contacts, that I can partially recover from Vcards.
Thanks anyway
