    A few questions

    Hello guys.

I really wanted to buy a M8 but I still have a bunch of questions. I've read all the threads such as faq, specifications, but i'd like a more detailed answer here if you don't mind.

    - M8 can't really run any of the WM apps? Isn't there a way to make them work? I mean, they were built under the windows CE platform and even tough the M8 uses it's own OS, it's the same platform, isn't it?

-As for the WIFI connection, How many testunits are there? Is it easy to find? I thought the official version was wifi enabled, such a disappointment... Due to this, I really don't know if it's worth it anymore.

-About java, does the java emulator work properly? Does it run touch games and such?

I dont know guys, i really wanted a M8. I know there are several apps and games developed specifically for the M8 but c'mon, no wm apps compatibility? Nor java? I'm disappointed.

There's not a lot of option for the m8 then... That's what bugging me right now.

-M8 uses Windows CE, not Windows Mobile. The programs are just different enough to be conflicted and won't work.

-I believe as long as you know where you're shopping, they should have some Wi-Fi units.

-iPod touch games will not run on the M8, because the M8 uses a completely different operating system

-There is a Java emulator for the M8

hello, i bought 2 M8 in Beijing and it seems to me that they only sell the wifi versions, they never bothered to ask if i want with or without wifi. i believe that only the test units have wifi is a myth.

I know that, my question was, does it work properly? 100%?

My biggest concern about the m8 is the lack of games for it. That's why i'm interested in that LBE gameloader but is quite hard to find real information about it.

So, I hope you could help me out:

    - I'm not chinese, so how can I get it?
    - Does it work with every ppc game? or just those that were already demonstred? (quake, tomb raider, etc...)
    - Will it be translated to english?

Hope you guys can really give me a bit more of information about it, cause I think it's one of the best apps avaible right now, and it's a shame that the developers are not giving support for non-chinese users.

    Thanks for your help! :]

    Andmm,
the apps for a ppc can sometimes run on the wince 6 os, but without testing you wont be sure,
if you do not own m8 you can test it on your pc , see here :

about the java emulator, i have ran it. it works, but not perfect but it is still beta software so i can not blaim the developer.

about lbe gameloader i am awaiting info myself from people who speak chinese, to test it. (see topic lbe gameloader : LBE Gameloader/M8 GAPI )

I also contacted the crew from this site:
    GAPI for HPC's
to request a port from this package to ce 6, still awaiting feedback.

about support for non-chinese users, i do hope android comes and comes really fast to have localized support, cause for now it is frustrating...

Don't worry for the wi fi, all the units have it but for most of it you have to crack it, i mean the chip is inside anyway. for the games, LBE gameloader would be great for everybody and also the psx emulator but for now it seems we have to wait but there still is GBA emulator which is quite funny so i don't now what kind of game you're looking for but it is quite fun (and there are a lot of roms!!) the M8 is a really good phone constantly evolving and that's the best part of it!
when i came back to france i wanted to switch with an iphone 3GS because of the 3G, the GPS and the tons of apps and after borrowing it from some friends i am so happy i didn't spent my money for it cause th M8 is still very good!!! (google maps would be awesome by the way) and the sound of the music player is also far better on the M8!!
sorry for the speach if i bored some people and i hope i helped you on your choice!!!!
