The Question of Where to Buy????
MeizuMe Mods & Admins,
I know the original rules laid down by err0r indicated that we are not going to advertise the sellers or places where we can buy the product and accessories, but if everyone can reconsider the issue I would appreciate it.
Rules and laws are laid down keeping the environment at that particular time in mind, they keep the things flowing in an orderly manner. But seldom there are any rules or laws that are put in action with the conditions that might exist in the future.
This is also true for this forum, I understand that if we allow the users to name vendors and all that, we would be promoting those, and we are not in that business (debatable) but we are in the business of selling the M8.
If one goes thru the posts, there are a number of times when people come asking for advice if they should buy an M8 or an iPhone or some other cell phone, and most of the times, we invariably sing the praises of the M8 or compare features of the M8, so we are making an effort for advising noobies to buy the M8... that is selling... WE are promoting the M8... which is obvious, as this is an M8 centric forum, and perhaps I can say for a majority of users here that we all love our M8's.
Having said that, once we compare and state that M8 is better, I think it becomes our responsibility to guide the noobies to where they should buy their devices... or other related products, so that the M8 experience for these new users is great and we add to our little community of the M8 fans.
I would request the Mods & the Admins to reconsider the option of sources. If it makes sense, we can create a page just for the links where the users have bought their products with an approval system or something like that so that new users can find out where to buy the products from so that they have a really good M8 experience.
Please reconsider, if not on this site then there has to be another way, and I am sure there are much more smarter users here who can find a way of doing this and at the same time preserve the rules and regulations of this forum.

PS: Had posted this as a reply to another post, but the title was not right, so creating another thread.

Yes the other mods, admins and I realize this, but we can't really do much about it until Err0r comes back and we are able to negotiate the rules with him. I do agree that this doesn't make sense now, since there are many valid M8 dealers. I believe the rule was made because of the frequent scams before the M8 was released.
I think we may still have this rule in the future, but in the FAQ or something like that, we'll probably have an authorized dealers list.
Even though I'm saying this, do not post links to other websites, since I don't make most of the rules, I just enforce all of them.

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsSorry to bump in this old topic.
I just would like to mention that this should indeed be a possiblity to discus about.
Reason;
as you might know or not, my m8 has a dead pixel and freezes randomly.
So i am contacting seller since i received the item (2 months ago), but did not receive feedback since last week.
Now they allow me to return the device to them (it is a very knwon webshop)
BUT i will need to pay shipments in both ways.. this is crazy cause that means i would need to pay an amount estimated on 100 euros on shipping only! So i am thinking i will be better of buying an other phone
So just making my point, such info would be good to know for everyone who wants to buy an m8 somewhere...

Basically, there is an interest problem.
I (second year BSc university student on debt) pay more than 500 euro a year for the server hosting Meizu Me. The forum software costs almost two hundred dollars, with a high annual fee. This design cost me four hundred.
On the other hand, I have contacted almost all webshops whether they want to advertise here for some money. All have declined. Should they be earning more money (with additional exposure) on my expense? If we could freely discuss them, they have even less incentive to pay anything for advertising?
Previously, we tried donations for a year. During that year, we got one donation of $25. From a moderator.
Ideas? Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Thanked 189 Times in 130 PostsIndeed, itīs an answer that many of us were awaiting.
Myself, i can understand errorīs motive for this nevertheless some information might be usefull to have if you are going to place an order for a m8/m8SE/... .
For example;
an average pricetag, shops to be avoided ā la topic like this one, ...
Ofcourse real advertisement is not done without receiving something for it.
Since if often spend a lot of time here and had the chance to receive good tips/tools/.. for my own device, i wouldnīt mind to donate a small fee if needed.Have we a Donaten Button in our Forum???

Thanked 56 Times in 24 PostsError, you could sell subscriptions to this site.
This has worked well on other sites and helps pay for the running of the site.
As some people dont like donating, they may have a change of heart if they got something for there money.
Subscribers would get access to certain privileges, for a fee of about $30 a year subscribers could have whats listed below...
Larger Personal Messenger Inbox - 100 storable messages versus 20
- Ability to change your username up to twice a year
- No search flood control delay
- Access to Subscriber-Only Forums
- Can remove the "Edited By" Legend when editing posts
- Larger personal photo
- Early access to new English apps
- Special Meizume Subscriber icon in profile and posts
- Name highlighted in online lists (red + prefix)
- Advertisements hidden from Subscribers
- Free copies of paid for apps( as most are very cheap anyway) 3 per year
- Or anything else you can think of.
