Thinking of buying a Meizu - Needs to know some things

Hi thar. I've been surfing around the web looking for a phone that suits me, and I've come to the result that either an iPhone or a Meizu will fit my needs quite handy and at the moment the Meizu is one step ahead due to the cheap price.
But(!), when I keep reading about meizu m8 I keep seeing threads about problems in various ways. I don't mind sitting with the phone some days to get things working properly, but there is ofcourse a limit.
I wonder, exactly how much problems is there with the Meizu M8 today? Is there any known problems that can't be fixed without upgrading firmware or similar.
I am aswell swedish, which makes me wonder how well the swedish translation of keyboard works.
The SMS-problems some people have, is it fixed? (Chinese chars, sms not getting sent, sms not getting recieved etc).
    Is the WiFi problem fixed?
I would really like to have the most common problems listed.

I appreciate any help in this question, your sincerely Ekenstein.

    Ekenstein,
there is a lot to say, so i would suggest to read some topics,
that will be the easiest way .

if doubting on an iphone or m8, keep in mind that m8 is cheaper
but it will take some time to get everything perfect.
However every needed items to use the phone do work perfect.

The problems you can expect depend on the firmware you are running.

The biggest problem the M8 has is its firmware, some leak versions are pure crap, while others are good, its just a matter of deciding in which firmware you trust.

And yes the Swedish keyboard works just dandy, it replaces the standard english keyboard, and since the phone does support special chars like Å it works a treat

The problems you speak of have mostly been taken care of in the firmwares, but note that in order to send messages or calls you have to add the given area codes to the phonenumbers, ie +45 for Denmark.

Recommending the M8 for sure, over the Iphone due to its emencely larger and smoother media combatability, and not having to use any sort of Itunes, full windows combatability

Thanks for your answers. Even though I may not be fully convinced. May most of the problems be due to the software? That'll say, I just have to upgrade to software, and not the hardware (buy a new phone for instance) to fix some of the more irretating problems in the future?

To just add the landcode (or whatever it is called) is not a big problem. The bigger problem is that the SMS is not getting received, or if it is received it is in chinese chars.

Is there plans of an upgrade of the firmware soon, or must I stick with some problems for a while, if I buy a m8?

And how is it about the heat? Is there similar problems with the heatproblems as with the iPhone? That'll say, the phone may not be in a temperature over 35 degrees celsius or below 0? Sweden can have a temperature over atleast 30 degress on the summer, and if I have the phone in a pocket there will be, obviously, over 35 degrees. And not to talk about the swedish winter.

having used my M8 for several months now, i have never had the SMS problem you are talking about. Other then the usual gliches, like a message not getting recieved, which has happened with every other phone i have had.

If you look in the Firmware forums, you will see that there is hundreds of firmware versions to chose from, and if the given version is a "downgrade" people will post emediately with their problems.
BTW, Meizu is planning to launch firmware v1.0 in aug/sep which should have most if not all problems fixed. While they launch a new fully stable version every month or so.

And the heat problem from the Iphone, I havnt seen or heard of it happening to the M8 even if its being charged while lying in the sun at 40 degree C, the phone never gets more than just a bit warm.

That's right. The phone has absolutely no hardware problems that I've heard about.

Meizu are constantly releasing new firmwares. The 1.0 version is rumoured for release in September.

This is a problem with the iphone battery and the iphone firmware overusing it while idle. There is no such problem with the M8.
The Inquirer had a few articles on the problem:
Apple's iphone os causes battery problems - The Inquirer
Iphone batteries might be causing overheating - The Inquirer
There were some more I think (just search for iphone battery on there if you're interested).

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for the fast replies! If the software is the problem I see no problem in ordering the phone.

But I need some motivation. If it's not too much to ask I would like to know why I should buy a meizu instead of iPhone. Yeah, Meizu is cheaper, and I've heard that the media is better. But on the other hand; the iPhone has no problems what so ever with the software, of what I've heard, and there is not much of work to get it going right from the start. Why should I drop the iPhone and buy Meizu instead?

    Please motivate me

Sorry for asking alot of questions, but I need to feel that I get something that works, so I dont throw away 400 bucks on something that in my opinion doesn't work as I want to.

Don't forget that we might get android to the M8!!!
This is one of the main advantages of the M8, its easily modifiable! (And i hate itunes, not apple, just itunes and that is why i love my M8)
At the moment, the M8 is far from perfect. We will see in September what will be changed, the current firmwares are going to look old compared to the new UI in September!

Well, the iTunesproblem is rather small, since there is optional programs one can use instead of itunes.

I've made up my mind, I will order a meizu. Since there is no known hardwareproblems, and just softwareproblems, I see it as fixable in a short future and therefor the meizu wins. Now the question, where to buy it?
I know that linking to different sites is against the rules, but atleast, can someone post a list of scamming sites I should be aware of?

I don't know if it is against the rules, but if someone can PM me some sites that is safe to buy from, it'd be great!
