Net Assist is for remote manuplation of the Lappy, for transfer of the files you need to use the IP Msg application.
For this app to work, you have to enable the Wifi on the M8 first, once you do that, then try to use the Wifi to log on to the Internet, this will tell you if you are truly connected to the Network.
Make sure the Lappy and the M8 are on the same network, if you have a DHCP network, this should work automatically.
Once you have done this, start the app on the M8 using the cab file.
On the Lappy, start the app using the exe... you should see the Lappy on the M8 and vice versa, hit refresh on the M8 a couple of times if you done see the Lappy.
Now as to what you are trying to do here, it is not clear, but if you are trying to access the Internet using this connection from the Laptop, I am not sure that is going to work. This app is designed to transfer files and content between the Lappy and the M8 without the use of a USB Cable.

Thanked 173 Times in 72 PostsIf you can not add the network, you should reconsider another password. Netassist is very easy to use. All you need is to connect you M8 and you laptop or computer to the same router, if not, you need to typ the ip adress manual.
What is your problem exactly at the moment?
I would like to help, i created several networks for several people, just ask and i know that i will get netassist to work for you!

Thanked 3 Times in 3 PostsThanks LVL, well I do that
1- connect my pc to internet with wifi.
2- I do the same with my m8.
Both of then show me "google", so I can surf on both devices.
3- Then I launch netassist on my pc and on the m8 and clic "connect to pc" on my m8, and I get the network failure. I can't connect both devices to each other.
4- I go to "Setting", and "WLAN" in my m8, choose my network in the list (to which I am connected), then to the options:
I have DHCP with
IP adress: XXX.XXX.XX.XXX (can't put my numbers on a forum obviously).
Subnet Mask: XXX.XXX.XXX.X
Default Ga... (gate I guess): XXX.XXX.XX.X
DNS
Closed, Manual, Auto (which is selected).
5- I go to netassit in the same m8, go to setting and enter my ip adress (the same as in WLAN option), manually, since to "auto" setting gives me no result.
6- Save and try "connect to pc":
"31 network failure, check network connection"
That's what I do... I don't seem to do anything weird, do I.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 Postsyes im in need of this too but it seems i cant get my laptop and m8 connected through ad-hoc, i tried open, wep (share), Wpa nothing works... can anybody help?

Ad-hoc is really picky. Mine will work if I set up an ad-hoc between 2 PCs first and then add the M8SE. Wifi router is the best way to connect.
Now, my question... NetAssist works on the new UI, but only allows transfer one file at a time. Is there anyway to use filesharing on the M8 just like a computer-to-computer network. I want to be able to control it just like its plugged in to USB, but on the Wifi connection only.
