it says the device isnt a 32 bit device or something
ive formatted the whole drive, tried upgradding the firmware and clearing registries but still nothing
ive tried it on 3 different computers and none of them could recognize the drive at all

First, I need to know which OS you are now using?
    Vista 64-bit?
you can shut down your M8, the hold "POWER" key and "M" Key together to reset the system. Maybe the problem will be solved.
But you still need to know that if you reset your system, all the programs you installed will be deleted. But your data in "disk" direction won' t be affected.

Try to uninstall you usb drivers on your PC (device manager)
    and reboot.

still nothing, the usb drivers have been reinstalled but the m8 is still ot recognisable and i cant use the drivers i got with the CD because they dont work on vista i suppose
im losing hope,my fone is just an expensive paperweight now

    edit****

i seem to recall it saying that when i tried doing that ages ago

It could be your computer...Try at a local library, or a friend's computer.
