How does it compare to the M8?
What do you like better about the M8?
What is worse about the M8?
i had an iPhone one year ago, but it was lost/stolen in a taxi. Now I am going to buy either an M8 or the new iPhone.
Thanks for your advice!

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostIMO these are the main benefits of each one over the other:
Pros of Meizu:
- Accessible filesystem (i.e. you can use it as a hard drive and download files from the web)
- Proper MP3 compatablity (you can just dump on or download a MP3 to the harddrive and play it, no faffing with itunes and m4as)
- Unrestrictedly open source applications (not controlled by the evil Apple corp. - useful e.g. if you wanted a torrent client or something [in the future as probably none exists atm])
- Smaller & Lighter & Battery replacable (obvious hardware differences)
Pros of iphone:
- GPS & 3G (duh - more obvious hardware differences)
- Less fiddling (you'll probably have keyboard and/or browser problems with the M8 as well as probably having to save all your numbers twice
)
- More existing apps (lots > not many...)
Also you should note that the new iphone has some battery overheating issues.
Basically it depends what you want it for. Iphones are good if you want to play lots of silly games. M8s are good if you want to download fiels and stuff (and not use itunes). I've tried not to sound *too* biased but the M8 is way better.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsRegarding the 3G, do you mean the M8 does not have the 3G technology, meaning its slower while surfing the net? Does this even matter in China (I live in SZ)
About "fiddling", what browser problems are you talking about, and why would you need to save your numbers twice?
Finally, how responsive is the touch on the M8 compared to the iPhone? I remember the iPhone being VERY fluid and responsive.

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostThe fiddling I was talking about is more with trying to use a keyboard other than the default Chinese one. But if you speak Chinese then that won't be a problem. I do mean the M8 doesn't have 3G but I guess that's also less of a big deal in China (otherwise Meizu probably would've included it). The touch screen is very fluid and responsive. Roughly the same as the iphone for most things except the pinch for zoom two fingure gesture is slightly more natural on the iphone but still perfectly good on the M8.
If you're in China I'd say defo go for the M8.

I like the M8, but I'd definitely sacrifice some openness to the iPhone, since it's already quite complete, and unofficial apps are only a jailbreak away. The downside is the contract is annoying, and the plans aren't great either. The worst part is you have to use iTunes, which screws you over most of the time, but as a smartphone the iPhone just mostly works.
Just don't buy a dumbphone as an alternative, I bought a new Sony Ericsson to replace my older one and it was 160CAD and can't do much, and is barely expandable. It's basically the same phone, the same interface, a higher resolution screen, Bluetooth, EDGE, and a MS Micro port.
