Thanked 1,024 Times in 375 PostsI have to disagree. I think the sound quality has improved greatly since the leaked 0.9.0.6 firmware, and now it's at least on the M6's level or even better.

I have the last firmware with the french language, i have notice a better quality than the latest firmaware but i still comfirm that the sound is not better than the M6.
Now i can tell that the sound is bad, still not good and still not good like M6.
Any other people to comfirm??

I personally never listen to what anyone has to say about sound quality unless I see real frequency diagrams and rigourous testing which can be backed up by scientific facts and figures.
No one on this forum has done this and thus any ones opinion about sound quality is purely subjective and unreliable. How someone percieves sound quality is dependent on a whole number of factors.
Notably: The encoding quality/codec/volume and genre of music of the files being tested, the users ears, the sound decoding chip on the device, how well it has been implemented, EQ settings and of course very importantly the headphones used.Last edited by sere83; 06-16-2009 at 10:07 PM.

@bbee
Seems to me that you just want to hear that the M6 has a better sound.
Well, maybe thats the truth but remeber that everyone has a different taste in sound, music, bass, trebel and so on. Sometimes it also depends heavily on the music the person listens to, so some people prefer the M8 and others the M6.
At least the M8 has a much better Sound that the iPhone or the iPod.

Well, again, that was not backed up my any diagrams, or snapshots from osilloscopes or any instrument whatsoever, just your subjective listening. I'm not saying that you are right or wrong, just re-stating that one person's opinion is highly subjective. I have yet to get my hands on a M8, so I can't vouch for anything.
Would anybody want to give me a M8 to do the testing?

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostOh, yes of course, where do you live? I'm in Hungary.

I think m8 is better. I tested mainly lossless music, with a very good earphone (ultimate ears super.fi 5 pro), and m8 has musical, a bit coloured sounding. m6 seems to "washed", "blended" for me (after m8), but there isn't a big difference. I used m6 the following way: spatializer on, "normal", and any other effects off.
Please, everybody write that, why is m6/m8 the better?

Thanked 5 Times in 5 PostsI still find the bass control in the M6 to be better than that of the M8. The bass in the M8 is bloaty, not controlled. The M6 has a much more refined bass.
But, overall, I'm happy with the M8's sound quality, but I still prefer the M6.

For me, when I get used to sound, whether controlled from the player or the sound device, I tend to dislike other headphones. At first when I got my DX Orange ear buds, I found the sound to be somewhat lacking, but once I got used to it, it sounded better than everything else that I've used before. The same goes for the stock in-ear buds that came with my phone.

If you do hear distortion, you can go to the equalizer and set all frequencies 1-6 ticks lower, depending on how low it will go to keep your current settings.

Thanked 5 Times in 5 PostsThe bass is not pushed up at all, even on flat equalizer and with no bass boost, the bass is not nearly as tight as on the m6, using the same earbuds. The amount of bass sounds about the same, it just is more distorted.
I'm not saying it's bad, just that I like the m6 more.
Oh, and JkPwnster : that just makes no sense. Try some higher ranking earbuds or headphones, and hear what you're missing !

That's actually quite an old example, the only thing I can tolerate the DX earbuds for now is podcasts.
I mainly use the Logitech X-540 that's hooked up to my computer, and JBL Reference Series headphones for music.
