Meizu M8 3G Specifications

Hey,
does anyone know wether WCDMA is UMTS or not?

I looked around and I've read (google :D), that UMTS is based on WCDMA.
I asked Vodafone (Germany) wether we could use mobile phones with WCDMA or CDMA. They answered: " You can use VodafoneLive!with every UMTS-supporting mobile phone. We hope it will help you!...bla bla".

It sounds very doubtful. Can someone clear me up, please?

Hi,

WCDMA is the same as UMTS.
One is referring to the technology and the other one refers to the name of the Telephony System.

So, WCDMA = UMTS.
But please do not mix with CDMA.

Yes but, in my opinion...what kind of shit is 30-pin Dock Connector? One of the best things of Meizu is that they use standard connectors xD
And speakers for me sound better in present position that on the bottom (like the awful iPhone speakers)!

Only apple can make such a thing.
Besides i don't want a 0.9 cm phone that could break in 2 (even if it is made out of titanium, which is very expensive btw)
I hate the 30-pin connector, such things are just so irritating.
At the moment i have about 5 mini-usb cables in my house, every computer has one on its desktop.
30-pin connectors are always expensive.....

This is great news as it means it will definitely have a cortex A8 based cpu on board. I was concerned they might be using the 800mhz version of the current ARM 11 based cpu they are using in the M8, the SC6410, but this appears not to be the case.

Major FAIL on the lack of camera flash though, very poor decision if you ask me. I don't know why people think this is not important, it means no taking photos in the evening or any low light situation, coonsidering the low cost of LED's this is a poor decision if you ask me.

8/16gb options and no expansion will be another major FAIL if true. It should start at 16gb and go up to 32gb at least, apple have had a 32gb iphone on the market for ages.

Will be good to see Meizu moving forward but if they don't get the firmware up to scratch then it will be wasted hardware. After owning and android device for some time now, I am also struggling to see myself owning a phone with out an english app store. With out basics like youtube and facebook this is looking far less appealing.

Although saying that I do wish Meizu the best and hope that the 3G version is a success.

In a recent post JW said they need more than 6 months to release the new M8 3G.

no.. really not true, my old nokia has a 3.2 Mp with led flash it has no use at all. The pictures look even worse by using the flash then without.
I would be happy if one would one day notice the difference between a 1.5 - 3.2 - 5 Mp in a mobile phone. Trust me on this one, it is a more commercial point then a usefull one..

i would be happy if they would add a decent powerplan in the mymobile to work on full speed when accesing an app and immediatly lowering the speed when closing it to save the maximum on battery standby time.

true, they should save money on r&d by launching 1 device with a max. 16gb default capacity and add on socket for memorycards. (memorycards are really cheap these days)
This way people on a budget still would buy a m8fe/se what means a higher revenu since they will earn all learning costs back that way.

agree, but i do hope they finally will include tv out (sd or higher) and more solutions to use media docks... since the FW is coming along (slowly but hey we are getting used to it..)
