J.Wong talking about M8-G3 version

This is a discussion on J.Wong talking about M8-G3 version within the General Meizu M8 forums, part of the Meizu M8 category; IMHO: is it true that the m8 is the first phone for Meizu, but if they fail the second release ...

IMHO: is it true that the m8 is the first phone for Meizu, but if they fail the second release date this will be a sure loss of trust by users. I'm also talking about specs, they MUST include gps and 3g if they are talking about them now, no more lies are allowed.

About the wifi, probably they will produce a test version with wifi. Afterall... test version is the real version.

JW is talking about 2 processors in his latest post (for the M8 3G I guess). Both Samsung processors, named C100 and C110. The first one is 800Mhz with twice the bus speed compared to S6410 (current processor in M8), supports 720p video decoding, and he's saying the whole system could use 16bit color displaying. The other processor is 1Ghz and has "more power".

I hope the new battery will be more powerful than the current one...

There's really no point for faster hardware if the current software cannot use it properly... Meizu might as well allocate most of their current budget to firmware development.

Definitelay agree with you JkPwNsTeR on that one 100%. Meizu can start bringing all sorts of outlandish blueprints to the table but if you software is sh*t then it is really of little/no significance/importance. If I was Wong I would be employing a whole load more software engineers to bring the software up to scratch before anything.

We all know Apple is probably going to unleash a monster at the WWDC and we have all seen the video of the Palm Pre, which frankly makes the M8 look like a bad joke....

However...Meizu has clearly stated they are a chinese company focussing on China and the world market is of little interest...in some ways this is a smart move. Mainly due to the fact that A worldwide Meizu phone is all just talk and a very distant prospect, and IMO they would get obliterated by the competition unless they didn't severely up their software game. Their grasp of the world market is almost non existent and they don't have the capabilitiy to implement some of the advanced features/standards that are standard on non chinese handsets and widely used in europe etc etc.

The competition is just in a completely different league and Meizu would be constantly playing catch up. Not to mention by the time Meizu do release a next gen phone we will be probably be seeing windows mobile 7, a more mature well rounded android and probably new palm WebOS handsets, not to mention all the other devices/platforms.

It pains me to say it but while IMO for Chinese customers Meizu could be an option, for any one else their phones are, and most probably will always be nothing more than a gimmick or a toy to play with rather than a serious device that can go head to head with devices from the major players.

Any of Meizu's prospective future phones are unfortunately of very little interest to me tbh. I wish they had continued to make mp4 players..

you are right sere83, but you must see that meizu is not ready for worldwide. Actually is developing there first phone and are thinking about their second phone. Lot or bugs and problems came out, and this is not a problem if you have a community like china. Worldwide is different, if they sell a product not completed, without full support, if the buyers doesnt trust meizu as a brand (remember that they are chinese), they LOSE the game of worldwide.

    yes, IMO they must:
    • reduce the amount of crashes (i have about one every two weeks, have to remove the battery)
    • reduce the glitches
    • polish the interface (and the language)
    • individualize the look (possibly a COMPLETE firmware upheaval
that seems to be the order of the day for me

Meizu will not play any role in the international mobile phone market in the next 3 years. Their software and hardware are outdated at time of release.
like sere83 said, there are so many new devices coming, so many new GUIs/OSs. They want to bring out a phone with 3G in 2010? man think, 3G is outdated at that time, period!
If you want to act worldwide you have to be up to date, up to the standarts, up to support etc. Meizu will not and can not get to this position! Think, the M8 is their first mobile phone. I don't want to know how palm, Nokia, sonyE managed their first phone...
In the MP4 market Meizu looses ground too. 2 years ago they were top notch because of the music quality of their mp4 players. the only thing that meizu didn't made it to worldwide success is, that they have a lousy software. They are addicted to their community which develops the software to higher standart. Without the work of this community Meizu would be nothing!

if Meizu is going to use better hardware in their next phone, how will they manage to bring the standby up to 48 hours? My M8 just keeps up 48h. there ARE NO new improvements in battery technology at the time. there is no big possibility in making the battery thinner or smaller without loosing cpacity. if they want to grow the capacity to maybe 1800 or 2000mAh they have to grow the battery! And believe me, you need 2000mAh for supporting 720p playback and other things like that! If they do not change the battery capacity the new M8 with higher standarts in hardware will just keep up 24h or less. and thats disgusting!

I understand if Meizu does not prepare for worldwide market, probably They want to make a devices for Chinese people at the first (and maybe only - my speculations ) or maybe They just want to learn on mistakes before release final product's (history shows Apple Company and what's They must to do before made 3G).

    J. Wong promises so much, let We hope it will grant.

16 mln color on screen.... sound not like LCD TFT but OLED (simply OLED, AMOLED or PMOLED) and maybe that why new M8 will be more fit.

Both Samsung processors, named C100 (800MHz) and C110 (1GHz) really boost considerably performance but consumes more power so.... I agree with You iceman#1 about battery capacity.

Build in GPS.... I hope there will not be A-GPS only

5 MP it will be greatest idea, and simply LED FLASH.... at last something good Certainly this is not a xenon but once led help very much (not for shoot's). Maybe they use mechanic lens... then i will by in heaven.

2010 March... wake up guys, in real i don't believe in this date... but who's know.

3G in 2010... I agree whit You Blah, but remember Meizu released own product only for Chinese, the country where 3G it's almost begin.

About WiFi.... Like Kirash said. I thing if in new M8 isn't enough space for wifi chip Meizu must resign from it, or use some of new chips who's combine Bluetooth & WiFi & Radio FM. But even if it will what say government of the China.

Listen... M8 + CASH = M9 will by really works in future ?

So the M8, will be better IMO.
It is a choice between 3G or wifi i think
When the phone is done is isnt going to be March 2010, i guess a little while longer, as many of you know/think.
Jack promised us a lot, think what he actually did with the M8
    So think again!

    Just my opinion
Yeah, i was just about to say that.
But you never know, maybe they'll make some sneaky test models with wifi again.
I hope their release date is solid but i wouldnt count on it.
