Hi all,
This is gonna be a stupid question cos this IS the M8 forum and all, do you guys think the M8 is worth getting?
I'm considering buying it, but then for the price I feel that there a few phones that are around the same price and has a more complete functionality like WiFi for example as well as GPS (Lenovo phones)(Also, M8 is only dualband).
What do you guys think?Last edited by Echo; 05-13-2009 at 05:30 AM. Reason: mistype

I'm not sure...
Is a phone extremely important to you for business, and you make a lot of calls on one? Would you rather not go through a troublesome install process (compared to other phones)?
If a phone is important to you as a very important piece of your life, you should probably not get the M8, since it's still pretty unstable and the firmware still hasn't hit 1.0.

Yup. It depends on what other software you use. The M8 doesn't have good syncing capabilities yet.
As I use Google to manage my life, I'm increasingly wanting to use my iPhone. Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI'm a pretty standard user I would say, just to make calls, listen to music, send text, and take the occasional picture or video.
The reason why I bought up WiFi and GPS is cos I feel its just a nice kind of luxury feature to have.

A Techie Phone- M8
M8 is a techie Phone.
What I mean by that is that this phone is for someone who likes to try new things, tinker with tech equipment, and is generally of a Technology bend, if you know what I mean.
As far as the stability of the phone is concerned, I can say it is fairly stable, you can make and receive calls in good quality without any issues, you can text and SMS ( Phone Numbers have to be manuplated), Browse the Internet with the inbuilt Opera browser, or can use the UCWeb browser, they both work well.
ON top of all this it is a really good multimedia device, plays almost all of the Video formats, has an awesome Music player with above average sound quality, the Camera is in the works, and keeps on getting better and better.
Further, there are a lot of Apps that are coming out almost on a daily basis, a lot of them are being developed by Freelance developers
and they are all free for the time being.
Moreover, this is the first phone from this company , which is trying to get a foot hold in a market that is already saturated with the Big Wigs, so Meizu may be working harder to get the things right, as you know that there are no phones out there that are absolutely perfect, but the difference with M8 is that you can make it to do what you want... I am not sure that is possible with other brands... Forgot about the MultiTouch feature... that is a really great one also and is not available in a lot of ouher devices...
So in all, if you are a normal user, using the phone for calls, text, browsing, music, and occasional video, this is the one... PROVIDED you like to try new things, tinker and get the satisfaction out of a device that you can customize (Themes out the Vassooo).
I have used Motorola, LG, Nokia in the past, and then the M8, I like this one the best... with all its flaws and all AND ABOVE ALL IT KICKS iPhones BUTT....
My 2 cents worth...

Thanked 1 Time in 1 PostI've not got the UCWeb browser to work properly. If it does work how come nobody's translated it into English? Does it work with fingerkb? Please somebody translate it if it's good.
Back on topic: I totally agree that you have to like tinkering and that it kick's the iphone's butt.
The ability to access the filesystem, the free windows based apps, the lack of need to use itunes (one of the worst pieces of software ever written), and the multitude of formats it plays far outweigh the little bugs it has (which will also hopefully get fixed before too long) in making it better than the iphone, on which you couldn't, for example, go on the internet and download an mp3 file and play it and later copy it to your computer.
Given the popularity of the iphone and these facts, I'd have to say it's worth getting. But only if you like fiddling with gadgets...

As of now the M8 is a bit difficult to use, you have to have a good understanding of technology to use it. However, if you want a more open, customizeable phone, go with the M8. It also has superior audio quality, so if listening to music is important, the M8 is a winner.
If you are having trouble with your player, please visit this thread first and try the steps before you panic. Most likely you will be able to fix your player easily using the steps listed.
Players: Meizu M6 SP 4GB, iPod Touch 4G
Headphones: SoundMAGIC PL-50s, Auvio In-Ear Armatures, Bose QC-15s.
Current Audio Congifuration: X-Fi Elite Pro w/LM4562 Mod -> Mission MS-50 + Boston Acoustics Subwoofer

if you look for a easy to use touch screen only phone, M8 is *the* choice to me.
I've tested many touchscreen phones (HTC, LG, Nokia, Samsung) and this one is the best among them.
