Does anyone have problems where you have a number stored in your phone book that does not contain the country code, when the person calls, the name appears, but when u recieve an sms from him, the phone number appears cos it contains the country code.
eg im from singapore, so my country code is +65
in my phonebook, jack's number is saved as 1234567
if jack calls, his name appears.
but when he sends me an sms, the phone states the sender as +651234567 instead of showing his name.
I went inside the control panel and found the region settings, the area code is put as 10 and country code as 86. I want to change it but I am unable to call up the keyboard int he countrol panel. I believe if i change this, it will solve my problem.
Any help?Last edited by teckhwee; 04-14-2009 at 08:08 AM.

You can change the settings in the registry. There are multistring settings under HKey_Current_user\ControlPanel\Dial\Locations
This link may provide some assistance in determining your settings. Be sure to write down the current settings in case you need to go back to them.

Actually, it is a lot easier than it looks. I think I made it look harder than it is by including that link.
If you know how to edit your registry, it is not too difficult. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Dial\Locations. Right click in the right pane and select New->Multi-string Value.
Under Value Name enter 2
Under Value Data, enter the following
Cell
G
G
G
XXX
65
0
Here are what the lines mean
Line 1 (name of call location, I chose Cell, you can call it anything you like)
Line 2 (Local Calls Dial String)
Line 3 (Long Distance Call Dial String)
Line 4 (International Call Dial String)
Line 5 (Area Code, I put XXX because I do not know your area code)
Line 6 (Disable call waiting sequence, leave blank, but make sure there is a blank line)
Line 7 (Country Code)
Line 8 (Pulse or Tone, leave set at 0)
Now you can go to your Control Panel and select "Cell" as your dialing location. Alternatively, you can navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Dial in your registry and change the Dword "CurrentLoc" to 2.
I hope this helps.

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsAs far as i know this doesn't help - i tried a similar approach - didn't help with matching the callerID to contacts, only changes your default dialing (out) parameters... Did it work for you?
