Reset M8 to factory settings - How?

    Hi friends!

I want to completely reset my M8 to factory settings (like fresh out of the box - including my media on the memory).

Now I have had a look at "Settings" -> "System" -> "System Reset" but found the available options a little confusing.

    What exactly does
    - "Reset Network Settings"
    - "Reset Factory Settings"
and - "Format Disk" do to the phone?

I would also like to know if resetting the factory settings or formatting the disk will clear the registry or should I do that manually afterwards?

    Thanks for all your help?

    1. Shutdown the M8
    2. Push and hold the ON/Off Button (at the Top) AND the M Button until you can read the message "...clear registry"

Reset Network Settings will delete your gprs and wifi settings I believe.
Reset Factory Settings will set the default wallpaper/ringtone/brightness... etc. back as it was when you first turned on the phone.
Format Disk does exactly what it says
I think neither of these will reset the registry so you better do it manually.

Format Disk to format the 8gb disk."
Reset Network Settings" reset the gprs and wifi
    "Reset Factory Settings"reset blacklight,sound,photo..etc
Reset registry can reset your m8 to original status. But the 8gb disk will keep the Content

Thanks for the quick help! Guess I'll format the disk first and clear the registry after that. Thumbs up for you guys!

    I see...

So just a question to understand how the FW works: I'm currently on 0.9.0.4. If I put the xip of 0.9.0.4 in the root again and update will that erase all partitions and copy a clean version of Windows to the FW-partition of the phone again?

a fw update deletes all your data except the ones on Disk. So your data in your Disk folder will remain, but the windows will be clean, new version.

you cleared registry, so you need use m8cracker to unlock WiFi - that's because WiFi is blocked by software in China.
