Meizu M8 not being recognized by computer
I just received my new phone today. However, everytime I try to sync it to my computer, it is not recognized. I have tried this both on Windows XP and Windows Vista. Can someone tell me what may be causing this problem? If its a bug can someone help with how to fix it?

Active Sync could be an issue, but the M8 should POP up just an an external HD as well.
Check DIsk Management under My Computer>Manage>Disk Management
See if you see the M8 there, Does the PC make a sound when you plug it in...??
If you see it there and still Explorer does not see it, it could be that the PC is trying to give a drive letter to M8 that is already taken... See if you can assign a different drive letter to either M8 or the Present Drive that you think could be the issue.. usually the Last Dick Drive letter....
But if there is no sound... when you plug it in... The Cable may be bad....

Thanked 0 Times in 0 PostsI had a similar problem when i first got my M8 ... don't remember what i did exactly but it was a driver related issue... if you are still unable to connect in 'activesync' mode go to 'Device manager' and check if there is a yellow question mark on any devices - especially under USB, select that and update the driver with the driver on the the CD that came with the M8 (just find the *.inf file) on the CD and select that one windows will tell you not to, but just go ahead... Additionally in Vista you must have Vista Mobile Device Manager installed - activesync won't work, it is a free download from microsoft, just google it and it should take you to the download.
Lastly there is a third party driver that is available via automatic search through windows --- i forget the name (because i don't activesync my phone anymore - useless feature currently on the M8 other than getting the contacts from outlook) but its some 'cable driver' that one works as well...

I don't understand. Why does a Mac have to complain about you not "safely" removing the drive when you can do it on a Windows machine fine? As long as you can transfer files correctly, I don't see any harm done.

iPods used to say "Do not disconnect" with a huge warning sign, but as far as I know the new ones don't, at least the iTouch.
