    Media Formats M8 will Play

    From the Specifications thread:
    Video Playback: AVI, FLV, MPEG-2, RM(VB), MPEG-4/H.263/H.264 at 30FPS

    What about WMV files???
    ASF??

Also is there anything out there that can be installed and play the files>>.

I had downloaded the CorePlayer... but it does not work, infact it freezes the Phone and the only way out is by taking the battery out...

    Any hints??? Pointers???

    Thanks,

Possibly, maybe some sort of codec. I'm sure it's possible through software, but it has to utilize hardware correctly.

Hmm... Seems like they've updated their "official M8" specs. We'll probably need two different set of specs, one for the test versions, and one for the official versions.

As they have added to the specs, I am sure it is just a function of the FW and not any kind of HW... I hope...., and if that is the case would it be not too difficult to add these specs to the Early Adopters like us who have the Test version of M8... Ultimately, if the Official version (CH or International) does not come with WiFi and BT, then actually the test version would stand to be a better piece of machine

So the question again: Can we add these formats to the Test Units ( Hate Calling it that) I would say The Gold Version of the M8????

tcpmp works well on m8 , but you have to change some settings.
    tcpmp-settings-direct draw-overlay format:RGB
also you need to cancel all file association ,or the built-in video player can't find video files.

I can confirm that WMV works.

In addition to those listed on the official specs, RMVB and SWF support can be added through a patch.
Can't wait to play with the Meizu MX!

I had installed the RM patch, you had talked bout another patch, is there a location that can be downloaded...???

Did you have to do anything to play the WMV file???

Unless you don't have the latest firmware, I assume it should play.

    I have the 0903_2 installed
0904 wa slowing things down a bit...
So in your opinion if I upgrade to the 0904 ver. it should start playing these files..???

Another Question, as in the 0904-3 the phone does not work if GRPS is ON.. does the same thing happen in the 0904 Ver???

whether mkv files are supported depends on its video encoding format. mkv is only a container. For most mkv files they use h264 high profile to encode videos, which is not supported on m8.
ps, m8 supports h264 baseline profile.

    to Mr 919263,
maybe there is something wrong with your m8. I am sure wmv files work on m8.
I am using 0904-3 now. if gprs is on and the gprs icon ( a circle containing 6 points and shown on the status bar ) is going round , you may miss your phone calls.

i recently installed 0.9.3.7 on my M8 SE and I get the same message. Installed rmvb-patch but this didn't fix it (well, 'twas worth a try). Funnily, I only noticed that it didn't work after installing FLVShow. Playback of videos fom youku.com inside this application fails with the same message.
Could somebody who's got it working post a list of installed applications?

EDIT: installed the Musepack package ---> no change
